Greetings precious and elect saints of God and welcome back to our ongoing study of the Blood. Now, let’s move forward.
ABRAM/ABRAHAM – PART SIX
The following Scriptures are the final steps that insured our salvation. This is God’s legal key for our salvation. Isaac has been born and is now a young man. His age is not known exactly but is likely greater than twelve (age of accountability) giving him the right to serve God and likely about thirty-three the age at which Jesus went to the Cross. Again, God speaks to Abraham.
Genesis 22:2 (KJV)
2 And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.
God says to Abraham, take Isaac your son – your only son, Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah and sacrifice him there. Can you imagine the feeling someone might feel in their gut to hear those words? Does this language sound familiar? God had only one Son when He sent Him to be offered for our sins forever. But that seed of His Son set aside sin forever and gave us an unhindered road to the Father.
This command to sacrifice Isaac would test the Blood Covenant between Abraham and God and would determine the future for all of us. Keep in mind that not only was the Father testing Abraham but Isaac and Jesus. Had any failed here, none of us would have a road to God; and most likely, this age would have ended years ago due to the wickedness of men’s hearts. So, how does Abraham respond? He gets up the next morning and heads out on the three-day journey to the land of Moriah. Most likely, to the same place that JHVH (Jehovah) would later put His name (build a Temple), and the same place that Jesus would be offered some two thousand years later. From Abraham’s point of view, Isaac is in the ground three days and three nights and is raised on the third day. Abraham had faith that his son Isaac would be raised, just as Jesus was to be raised on the third day.
Genesis 22:5 (KJV)
5 And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you.
Abraham and Isaac are heading up the mountain, and these are his last instructions to the young men that accompanied them. You can see that Abraham has learned from God; he is calling the end from the beginning. He is saying what he wants to happen and what he believes will happen. Abraham knew they were going up that mountain to sacrifice Isaac. Where did he get the idea that Isaac would or could be raised from the dead? Up to this time in Scripture, we have no example of anyone being raised from the dead. Abraham believed God and as we will see so does Isaac.
Hebrews 11:17-19 (KJV)
17 By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son,
18 Of whom it was said, That in Isaac shall thy seed be called:
19 Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure. [2]
Galatians 3:6-9 (KJV)
6 Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.
7 Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.
8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.
9 So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.
Thank you, Father, thank you Lord Jesus, and thank you Abraham and Isaac.
TAKE HOME:
- The Blood Covenant is tested, and God the Father tells Abraham to take his son whom he loves, his only son, into the land of Moriah and sacrifice him there. This is a test of tests!
- Abraham with his son Isaac and two men leave immediately the next morning to obey God. Only Abraham knows the purpose of the trip or what he thinks is the purpose.
- Abraham believed that God would raise Isaac from the dead that day, he had full confidence in God. What about you and me?
Lord willing, I will resume right here next Tuesday, Monday is a special teaching on THE FEAST OF TABERNACLES. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
