WE ARE TO LIVE AND MOVE AND HAVE OUR BEING IN HIM

Greetings dear saints of God and any other who are joining this study of “The Kingdom of God”. This is a wonderful, exciting study which challenges to be about the Father’s business and that all of our lives are one way or another connected to our Heavenly Father’s business. We do all as unto the Lord.
Colossians 3:23 (KJV)
23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;
Remember this verse?
Acts 17:28 (ESV)
28 for “‘In him we live and move and have our being’; as even some of your own poets have said, “‘For we are indeed his offspring.’
Is there any mention in these verses of two separate lives? All that we do is as unto the Lord and there is not any time that we live, move, and have our being apart from the Lord. Once again let’s review our anchor text and then move forward.
Matthew 6:33 (ESV)
33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
We are commanded to “seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness” which is to seek after righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit doing all things His way. How do we know what that is? Ninety plus percent is found right in the Word of God, the remainder in that still small voice of the Holy Spirit Who will always agree with the Word, with Jesus. Now, let’s return to the account of the “rich young ruler”. He presents himself to Jesus wanting eternal life.
Luke 18:18 (ESV)
18 And a ruler asked him, “Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”
The word “inherit” To be an heir, to share in, or obtain. Jesus lists several of the “Ten Commandments” which this man had kept then Jesus says he is missing something.
Luke 18:22-23 (ESV)
22 When Jesus heard this, he said to him, “One thing you still lack. Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.”
23 But when he heard these things, he became very sad, for he was extremely rich.
What was most valuable to this man, where was his focus, what was his real god? As we follow this account along, we find that Jesus is not asking him to live in poverty but to trust God, trust the Kingdom of God life, the Kingdom of God ways.
Luke 18:24-25 (ESV)
24 Jesus, seeing that he had become sad, said, “How difficult it is for those who have wealth to enter the kingdom of God!
25 For it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.”
Perhaps like you I have heard all kinds of suppositions about what this thing with a camel going through the eye of a needle means. I would just take Jesus at His word; it is impossible for man but not God.
Luke 18:27 (KJV)
27 And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.
God can bring a rich man through the eye of the needle, the narrow gate, if He will submit to God and God alone. When money becomes a tool for the Kingdom and not a god it is easy for God to bring one through the eye of the needle. As we finish look what awaited this man who was extremely wealthy had he followed Jesus.
Luke 18:29-30 (KJV)
29 And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God’s sake,
30 Who shall not receive manifold more in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting.
This man would have not only been in Jesus’ entourage, seen amazing things, obtained eternal life, and ended up many times more wealthy.
TAKE HOME:
- It is imperative, vital, that we seek after the Kingdom of God which is righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost and do all things His way.
- God will have no other gods before Him (first commandment) therefore we must be careful to put no other gods before Him.
- You want to be very wealthy without sorrow, living a Kingdom life, doing it His way, do what He says.
Lord willing, I will resume right here next Saturday. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
