THE TRUTH SHALL NOT DEPART FROM YOUR MOUTH

Greetings and welcome to Part Two of this teaching series on “Knowledge of the Truth”. This series will focus on the Truth, Divine Truth, and the importance of increasing our knowledge day by day. As we move forward, I want to remind us of a statement I made yesterday. This type of knowledge is not just knowing or having information about a thing but must be acquired by active pursuit and practice of the knowledge. Epignosis sits over, is superior to, and is the very core of knowledge and it is a functional knowledge, producing fruitfulness and multiplication. Being successful in the Kingdom of God is really no different than gaining success in the natural world.
2 Timothy 2:15 (NKJV)
15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Being diligent tells us more than laying back and hearing the Word on Sunday morning, it is an active participation in receiving, believing, and implementing. It is vital that we divide the Word of Truth right or correctly. This comes by proving the Scripture by Scripture. Remember what Dr. Luke said about the Berean’s.
Acts 17:10-11 (KJV)
10 And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.
11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
Notice they received the Word preached with “all readiness of mind” and then they went home and “searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so”. They did not go to sources outside of the written Word and we must learn from them. This is going to take time and effort but know this, there is nothing more important in our lives than the Word of Truth. All that TV show you are distracted to watch can do in the scope of eternity is to delay or keep us from our destiny. Let’s look at what the Lord said to Joshua as he is taking over leadership of God’s people following the death of Moses.
Joshua 1:5-9 (KJV)
5 There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
6 Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.
7 Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.
8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
Don’t you think this was challenging for Joshua? In spite of hanging out with Moses for forty plus years the Lord commands him to further study (knowledge of the Truth), meditation (building faith), and action (the discharge of faith). I will discuss this lengthy passage again tomorrow.
TAKE HOME:
- The knowledge we are studying is “epignosis” which sits over, is superior to, and is the very core of knowledge and it is a functional knowledge, producing fruitfulness and multiplication.
- We must study the Word of Truth proving all we hear by the Word, the whole context counsel of Scripture not extrabiblical sources.
- The Word of Truth, the knowledge of the Truth must be first in our thoughts, our speaking, and our doing.
Lord willing, I will resume right here tomorrow. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
