ACTIVE PURSUIT AND UTILIZATION

Welcome dear saints (saved) and sinners (unsaved) alike to a new study titled “KNOWLEDGE OF THE TRUTH”. Knowledge is essential to be successful in both spiritual and physical realms. It is vital that the knowledge we have is the Truth. I spelled “Truth” with a capital “T” for the most vital Truth is that of Divine origin. I am talking about Truth from the mouth of the God of Abraham, Issac, and Jacob brought to us through Christ Jesus. That Truth is for all peoples, for all times, for all circumstances. We will spring this study off of two Scriptures.
1 Timothy 2:4 (KJV)
4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
First, we see that it is the will of God for all persons to be saved. Our Heavenly Father has not picked winners and losers ahead of time. We all are given a choice, and He will stand by our choice. Next, we see that it is the will of God that we all “come into the knowledge of the truth”. Knowledge is essential to doing things with excellence in the earth and so it is in the Kingdom of God.
2 Peter 1:2-4 (KJV)
2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
Do you want more grace and peace? Well, it will only come through knowledge of God, the Father, and Jesus our Lord, God the Son. The word translated from Greek to English as knowledge is epignōsis meaning to have recognition, full discernment, and acknowledgment according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary.
Let’s look at it a little deeper. This word is a feminine noun which tells us that this knowledge causes increase. It is a more intense word than gnósis Strong’s Number G1108 meaning knowledge, because it expresses a more thorough participation in the acquiring of knowledge on the part of the learner. In the NT, it often refers to knowledge which very powerfully influences the form of religious life, a knowledge laying claim to personal involvement according to The Complete Word Study Dictionary – New Testament.
This is not just knowing or having information about a thing but must be acquired by active pursuit and practice of the knowledge. Epignosis sits over, is superior to, and is the very core of knowledge and it is a functional knowledge, producing fruitfulness and multiplication.
TAKE HOME:
- Knowledge is essential to success in the Kingdom of God and in the earth.
- It is the will of God for us to have knowledge of the Truth, which is Truth for all people, for all time, under all circumstances.
- Grace, Peace, all things for life and godliness come to us by way of knowledge, knowledge of the Truth.
