TO KNOW ABOUT – TO KNOW INTIMATELY

Welcome back to these exciting and enlightening teachings about the highest level of knowledge and Divine Truth. Just as you are going nowhere in this natural realm without knowledge, so it is in the spiritual realm as well. The things we observe in this natural realm give us great insight into the spiritual realm.
Romans 1:20 (AMP)
20 For ever since the creation of the world His invisible nature and attributes, that is, His eternal power and divinity, have been made intelligible and clearly discernible in and through the things that have been made (His handiworks). So [men] are without excuse [altogether without any defense or justification],
Consider the following example which demonstrates this process of acquiring fragmented knowledge (gnósis) and progressing to the higher level of knowledge (epignōsis) which requires our active participation.
Acts 19:1-6 (KJV)
1 And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples,
2 He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.
3 And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John’s baptism.
4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.
5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.
In this passage, the Apostle Paul is talking with certain disciples at Ephesus. They did not know about the Holy Ghost, in fact, we see that they are not even saved. The Apostle Paul tells them about the Holy Ghost (gnósis) and then they are immersed in the Holy Ghost (epignōsis). In verse five (the number of Holy Spirit) they are saved, and in verse six the Holy Spirit comes upon them, and they spoke in other tongues and prophesied. At this point they did not know everything about salvation or the workings of the Holy Spirit, but they were on their way. To stay on the way forward they just like us would need to stay engaged, otherwise they would slide back.
The Scripture says, “God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith” (Romans 12:3) which is the essential information necessary for salvation. The ability to believe and receive the good news comes by God in His mercy by opening our spiritual ears. Our spiritual ears are opened by the gushing forth of the anointed Word of God (Romans 10:17). Consider this.
Hebrews 11:6 (KJV)
6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Is there anything that pleases God, the Father, more than utilizing our God given faith for getting saved? I think not. The measure of faith we are given is the ability to hear the message that He is and to believe that He is, and that if we receive this message of salvation, union with Him, and diligently seek Him He will reward us. We act upon that little bit of knowledge and WHAM by Grace through faith we are saved! (Ephesians 2:8) When we believe the anointed Word of God and receive the Word in our heart and confess the Word with our mouth the Holy Spirit gives us life eternal (Romans 10:9). In a moments time we move from knowing about (gnósis) to intimacy (epignōsis). Praise the Lord!
TAKE HOME:
- Do you just know about the Lord, about His promises or do you know the Lord intimately, experientially?
- Do you have the Holy Ghost? I’m talking about the filling, immersion, and His being upon us. I am not talking about the Holy Spirit coming to live within at salvation. It is a two-step process. You can go to heaven without the baptism, but you cannot go without salvation.
- It is our responsibility to diligently pursue the highest level of knowledge, Divine knowledge, every day.
