Welcome back to these exciting and enlightening teachings about the highest level of knowledge and Divine Truth. Just as you are going nowhere in this natural realm without knowledge, so it is in the spiritual realm as well. The things we observe in this natural realm give us great insight into the spiritual realm.
Romans 1:20 (AMP)
20 For ever since the creation of the world His invisible nature and attributes, that is, His eternal power and divinity, have been made intelligible and clearly discernible in and through the things that have been made (His handiworks). So [men] are without excuse [altogether without any defense or justification],
It requires a certain fulness of this highest knowledge to walk (live) in the fulness of God’s will. Let us turn our attention back to the Greek word for knowledge, epignōsis, as found in the New Testament. God wants us to have this high level of Divine knowledge because without it we cannot accomplish the full will of God. Even though this (epignōsis) knowledge is the highest level of knowledge, at least as conveyed by the Greek language it is not a point reached but more like an ever-elevating plateau that stretches out endlessly before us. Because God is infinite in nature then the knowledge concerning Him would also be infinite. The terms clear and exact as used to define epignōsis are a continuum paradigm. This is brought to light by the next Scripture.
Colossians 1:9-10 (KJV)
9 For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
10 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;
The word knowledge (epignōsis) is the same in verses nine and ten. We can grow in this clear, exact, and superior knowledge of God which causes us to come up to another level of participation with God. This knowledge of God and participation with God changes our life. We become more like Him. In the preceding passage Paul is telling the Christians at Colossi that it is his prayer that they be filled with this knowledge. This Scripture makes it clear that once we acquire the knowledge before us, God enlarges our capacity for another level of filling. We will never be filled and remain in a static position, we either regress or move forward.
Before you come to think this is something someone can impart, do not even go there, this knowledge comes only by study and diligence in the Word of God facilitated by the Holy Spirit. The outcome Paul wants is what God wants, and that is for us to know the will of God in all wisdom with understanding (revelation) and knowledge (epignōsis) of Him (Ephesians 1:17, Colossians 1:9-10).
Knowledge alone, even this highest knowledge, which is the knowledge of God, is but a collection of facts concerning God, His Kingdom, and His ways if not exercised. And this knowledge must be exercised informed by wisdom and understanding from God. Wisdom in this context is the combining of knowledge with understanding causing us to ascend to the best use of that knowledge.
When we seek understanding and wisdom it means that we are willing to allow the Holy Spirit to put things in their proper relationships and context for us. This is necessary because the Holy Spirit is operating with a fullness of vision while we see through a glass darkly. What then is the outcome? We always please the Father just like Jesus and we are fruitful and continue to increase in knowledge. Knowledge can be a collection of facts about anything, but we are focused on God, the Divine knowledge of God and about God.
Understanding is when we are able to connect these facts, connect the dots so to speak, in a useful way which is revelation in the spiritual realm. According to Proverbs 9:10 to fear or honor God is wisdom. So, when we take our knowledge and understanding of Him and honor Him with it, we are displaying wisdom.
TAKE HOME:
- Scripture tells us that this natural realm reflects Spiritual Truth.
- This highest level of knowledge, Divine knowledge requires wisdom and understanding to function in fulness.
- Look at the Apostle Paul’s prayer for the saints at Colossi.
Colossians 1:9 (KJV) For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
Lord willing, I will resume right here tomorrow. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
