ARE WE THINKING ON WHAT SCRIPTURE SAYS?

Greetings to one and all and welcome once again to this teaching on “WHOSE THOUGHTS”. What about this? Are our thoughts our secrets forever? And whose thoughts are we thinking? Are we thinking the thoughts of our own understanding, the voice of other people’s reasonings plus or minus Godly or demonic influence, demonic voices, or the voice of God? There is someone who is talking to us all the time. We call this our thought life. Are thoughts harmless? By the way our thoughts are not a secret from God and our thoughts produce fruit. Our thoughts may be a secret for a season from other people and the demons, that is until our words and actions betray our thoughts and the fruit manifests, the harvest comes.
We are thinking about something all the time, even in our sleep. We are receiving input to our thought life all day through music, radio, TV, conversations, books, articles of all types (audio, kindle, paper, etc.). Our thoughts can be Godly, neutral, or devilish. Godly thoughts are those in line with Scripture. Neutral thoughts are things like thinking about our grocery list, a task at work and so on. Devilish thoughts are any and all thoughts contrary to Scripture. Yesterday we examined the admonition of Jesus to take heed to what we hear and before that how we hear. All seed (words) bring a harvest. What seeds are you, am I, sowing. Today, the last teaching of this series and will have several Scriptures to consolidate our understanding of the importance of our thought life, it is life and death.
Romans 12:2 (KJV)
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
We are to renew our mind, thought life, what we really believe with the Word of God. If we receive the Word of God as the Truth final authority for us it displaces the lies of Satan. We cast down the lies of the enemy implanted in our minds. In this way we come to know the will of God and can choose the will of God over the world, over Satan.
2 Corinthians 10:4-5 (KJV)
4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
There are ideas that exalt themselves against God, like evolution, homosexuality, abortion, God is in control of our lives, we don’t have any authority, it is all Him, and much more. As we come to each one and see they are not the Truth by the Word of God we cast them down in the name of Jesus. We refuse to think on them or speak of them as the truth.
Isaiah 26:3-4 (KJV)
3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
4 Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength:
We choose what to think and we must choose to think on the Lord, His Word especially in the time of testing. We and we alone choose what to think about. Yes, the pressure can be intense to think defeat, things of the enemy but we choose, how deep is your root in the Word of God?
Romans 8:5-6 (KJV)
5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
Do you focus on the things of the flesh or do you focus on the things of the Spirit. Remember, all physical manifestations have their origin in the Spiritual realm (4th dimension) and manifest, bear fruit, produce a harvest in the natural realm (3rd dimension). The thief (demons) come only to steal, kill, and destroy. I choose to be spiritually minded and have life and peace. That is life as God has life, Heaven upon the earth. Peace is to be joined with God in purpose, to have prosperity, restored as a triune unified person, quietness, rest in the full provision of God, and one with God again according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. So, what is it? Death or life and peace?
2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV)
7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
We are not to walk in fear; we have the One with all knowledge and all Power withing. We walk in power, in love (agapē/agapaō), and a disciplined self-controlled mind. Notice we do the discipling and we do the controlling not God. Finally, the Lord tells us what to think about!
Philippians 4:6-8 (KJV)
6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
The phrase “Be careful for nothing” means to not be anxious which is fear and an open door to exactly what we don’t want. Let us determine to do as the Lord instructs and never again treat our thoughts as nothing. They are everything, life and death.
TAKE HOME:
- Are we renewing our minds to the ways, the will of God?
- Are we casting down taking captive all unrighteous thoughts?
- When the enemies thoughts come, do we immediately shift our mind, thoughts, to the Words of God?
- Are we living a carnal or spiritual life? It is the difference of death or life and peace.
- Do you discipline and control your thought life?
- God has given us things to think about are we obeying?
