A BODY FOR SACRIFICE
Thursday – February 15, 2018

Welcome back to this wonderful Bible Study from the Book of Hebrews. I hope you enjoyed the review and exploration of the Feasts of the Lord. This is a Book rich beyond our dreams. I will be pushing on today so let’s take a moment to review our new primary Bible text from the Book of Hebrews.
Hebrews 10:5-7 (KJV)
5 Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:
6 In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.
7 Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.
The writer of Hebrews here by the Anointing of the Holy Spirit is quoting the Word (Jesus) when He came into the world. This is a quote taken from the Psalms. Let’s look at this in a different translation of the Bible to get a fuller context.
Hebrews 10:5-7 (AMP)
5 Hence, when He [Christ] entered into the world, He said, Sacrifices and offerings You have not desired, but instead You have made ready a body for Me [to offer];
6 In burnt offerings and sin offerings You have taken no delight.
7 Then I said, Behold, here I am, coming to do Your will, O God—[to fulfill] what is written of Me in the volume of the Book.
Here in the Book of Hebrews the writer is looking back at what Jesus said just before departing Heaven for the womb of Mary. The Father through the Holy Spirit has prepared a physical body in the womb of the Virgin Mary and the Word is about to divest Himself of all that made Him God (omnipresence, omnipotence, Omniscience) including His knowledge or memory of same. As we can see He (the Word) is totally submitted to the will of Elohim which is Jehovah, Word, and Holy Spirit. This was decided in Heaven before the foundation of this creation. It was not the will of God that man fail, but should he fail as a freewill creation, God had a plan of redemption. The writer of Hebrews is looking back upon the coming of the Word into the world, who would then be named Jesus (Jehovah saved). Now, let’s take a look at the source of the quote in Psalm forty.
Psalm 40:6-8 (AMP)
6 Sacrifice and offering You do not desire, nor have You delight in them; You have given me the capacity to hear and obey [Your law, a more valuable service than] burnt offerings and sin offerings [which] You do not require.
7 Then said I, Behold, I come; in the volume of the book it is written of me;
8 I delight to do Your will, O my God; yes, Your law is within my heart.
Let’s take a look at the Biblical Numerology of the Psalm reference. The Book of Psalms is the nineteenth Book of the Old Testament and nineteen is the number of faith. Forty is the number of testing. Man needed to understand that he needed a Savior and that God was sending a Savior. Then we have verses six (man), seven (spiritual completion), and eight (new beginnings). The faith of people in the earth brought the Prophetic Word of God to manifestation (Jesus) giving man full redemption and a new beginning. Wow!!
God never desired the spilling of innocent animal blood and their destruction but it was a needed stop-gap that looked forward to the coming of the Messiah (Christ). One might ask why the Word (Jesus in the flesh) didn’t just come right off the bat on the Day of Sin or very soon after that day. There is this perverted idea among many Christians that God is just doing what He wants when He wants and mankind is more or less along for the ride and has no role to play. Nothing could be further from the Truth. Man was created with a free will. God gave authority in the earth to the man He created. In order to send a Savior, a Redeemer, God had to make covenant with a man and that man was to proclaim (decree, declare) it in the earth. Man was in desperate need of a Savior but God in effect had to get at least one mans permission to send the Savior. It took some two-thousand years and the man was Abraham who entered into Blood Covenant with God. It then took another two-thousand years to herd all the cats and actually bring Christ into the earth. We see from our primary text and the secondary text from Psalms that both are a reference to what was already proclaimed in Scripture. Let’s consider the following Scripture.
Genesis 12:1-3 (KJV)
1 Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee:
2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
This preceding passage is a pivotal Scripture for many reasons however today my focus is the third verse and the phrase “in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed”. This is a reference to the coming Savior, the Seed of Abraham, Abraham is the father of us all (Judaism and Christianity). Now let’s jump back to Noah.
Genesis 9:9 (KJV)
9 And I, behold, I establish my covenant with you, and with your seed after you;
When they came off the Ark (eight souls – new beginning) God made covenant with Noah and “your seed after you”. The word seed here is masculine and singular so God is not talking about the progeny of Noah and his children but the Messiah to come, The Seed. Jesus talked of this seed which must be sown and die (John 12:24). Just think of the Biblical Numerology of this reference alone. John is the fourth Book of the New Testament and four is the number of light (Anointing), authority, and power. Twelve is the number of God’s perfect government and twenty-four is the number of the priesthood. We needed a sacrifice, a covenant, and a mediator of that covenant and the Word became it all. Now back to the beginning.
Genesis 3:14-15 (KJV)
14 And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:
15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
In the preceding passage we find God announcing the coming Messiah in verse fifteen. Fifteen is the number of God’s provision, God’s rest. God’s solution to our problem was Himself. What a wonderful God!
Until our next publication, I speak blessing into your life right now, receive it in the name of Jesus, confess it, and walk it out with thanksgiving.
Numbers 6:24-26 (KJV)
24 The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:
25 The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
26 The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
