AWAKE, ARISE, AND TRIUMPH

A PRECIOUS CORNERSTONE
Greetings precious friends, partners, and children of God the Father. And, welcome back to this Bible Study of the Book of Isaiah. This Book is very instructive in righteousness and prophetic concerning the coming Messiah and the end of days. Please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you. Thank you for sharing, you have a very important role in this Ministry along with our partners. I introduced a quote yesterday attributed to H.B. Clendenin which really struck me. He reportedly said; “We preach what revival brings, rather than preaching what brings revival”. This struck me very much as a truth. We talk about salvations, healings, and deliverances but not the path that brings these things. It is as if we imagine going from here to there with no intervening steps. Einstein is credited with saying that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result. If there were no intervening step, we would constantly be in a state of what is commonly referred to as revival.
In order for things to change in my life or yours, we must change. We are not changed passively on the couch, change is hard many times, and seems awkward at first. First, we must change in our thoughts, then our words, and then our actions. All the time perfecting faith in God, perfecting love (agape), and knowing the perfect will of God. Have you ever noticed that many times even when we know the will of God, we are not willing to do it? As I meditated upon this missing step the Lord brought three Scriptures to me in very rapid succession. All of which I have studied and taught upon extensively. I am not going to print the Scriptures here for we have other very important material to discuss. I invite you to study Joshua 1:3-9, Jeremiah 23:3-4, and 2 Chronicles 16:9. Now, let’s shift our attention to our primary Bible text continuing to read out loud.
Isaiah 28:15-18 (TLB)
15 You have struck a bargain with Death, you say, and sold yourselves to the devil in exchange for his protection against the Assyrians. “They can never touch us,” you say, “for we are under the care of one who will deceive and fool them.”
16 But the Lord God says, “See, I am placing a Foundation Stone in Zion—a firm, tested, precious Cornerstone that is safe to build on. He who believes need never run away again.
17 I will take the line and plummet of justice to check the foundation wall you built; it looks so fine, but it is so weak a storm of hail will knock it down! The enemy will come like a flood and sweep it away, and you will be drowned.
18 I will cancel your agreement of compromise with Death and the devil, so when the terrible enemy floods in, you will be trampled into the ground.
Yesterday I left off with verse fifteen in our text above and had looked at the contrast of outcome for those who lean to the arm of flesh and those who lean to the Arm of the Lord. I want to bring one more Scripture from Jeremiah into focus speaking of deception and being fooled. Generally, although the enemy plays a key role, we fool ourselves for we tend towards the flesh all too often.
Jeremiah 17:9-10 (KJV)
9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
10 I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.
As we turn our attention to verse sixteen of our main text, we again see the coming Messiah, this is Messianic text. There is no question even for the new believer that the Lord, through Isaiah, is talking about the coming Messiah, Jesus, the Christ. Before we end for today consider the following two Scriptures.
1 Corinthians 3:11 (HCSB)
11 For no one can lay any other foundation than what has been laid down. That foundation is Jesus Christ.
Ephesians 2:20-22 (HCSB)
20 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus Himself as the cornerstone.
21 The whole building, being put together by Him, grows into a holy sanctuary in the Lord.
22 You also are being built together for God’s dwelling in the Spirit.
These Scriptures are clear about the foundation being Christ Jesus. Let’s look at Isaiah 28:16 in the Amplified translation of the Bible. Looks to me like the cure for fear is coming and from our prospective has come.
Isaiah 28:16 (AMP)
16 Therefore thus says the Lord God, Behold, I am laying in Zion for a foundation a Stone, a tested Stone, a precious Cornerstone of sure foundation; he who believes (trusts in, relies on, and adheres to that Stone) will not be ashamed or give way or hasten away [in sudden panic].
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow. Remember we love you and there is nothing you can do about it.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.

25 GOD smile on you and gift you,
26 GOD look you full in the face and make you prosper.
