A WELL OF TRUTH
SO, WHAT ABOUT PROPHECY? – PART FOUR

Greetings dear and precious saints of God and welcome back to A Well of Truth. Today I am going to speak once again about prophecy. I recently, December 2021, published a short book on the topic and the front cover is the featured picture today. This book/booklet can be purchased on Amazon.com and can be located by searching by my name (Dr. David R. Wood). At the end of this teaching, you will see all six books I have published and are available on Amazon as well. Before I move forward, please share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you expanding our reach with the Truth.
One statement you may hear when talking about a prophecy, especially a personal prophecy is: “did it come to pass?” That is a valid question but must be considered in the light of the prophecy itself. For example, if the prophecy was for a specific time and place and that time has passed, it does not mean the prophetic word was not the will of God. All prophecy is conditional. It is conditional upon our subsequent obedience. For example, if I prophesy to you that I believe the Lord is showing me that He has great wealth for you, remember you have a vital part to play. God has great wealth planned or set aside for all of us. Yes, here and now not just in the sweet bye and bye. It is on His path. He has not chosen some to be poor and some to be rich! Most of us have chosen our own path and then wonder why the promises of God are not manifesting in our lives. Many times, we are sitting waiting for the prophecy to manifest but have not done our part. Therefore, we see people twenty years down the road from a prophecy and still believing for the prophecy to manifest having done nothing to walk it out. We got off His path! We seem to think we can keep doing the same thing that has not produced results in the past and it will somehow produce results in the future. Wakey, wakey it is not going to happen.
Many times, people are judging prophecy or a Prophet in our limited time upon the earth. How many people that heard the prophecies concerning the coming of Jesus were alive when He was born? Zero! In other cases, it may not have come to pass due to inattention to the leadership of the Holy Spirit or just plain disobedience, leaning to our own understanding. This walk with the Lord is a 24/7/365 deal so we must at all times be tuned into the God inside of us. This is not a Sunday morning, perhaps Wednesday night thing and then perhaps only partial attention. We are much too nonchalant about our walk with the Lord. What if we treated our husband or wife like we treat the Lord? What about our live at home children? Let me reiterate, all prophecy (from the Prophet not the one exercising the gift of prophecy) is conditional. It is conditional upon our obedience going forward.
2 Peter 3:9 (KJV)
9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
It is not the will of God that any perish, that any come short concerning His promises but we see this all around us saint and sinner alike. Repentance is always the way back to Gods’ path and the way out of or avoiding disaster all together. I have gotten a little off the point perhaps but it seems the Holy Spirit wants it all said. Let’s embrace prophecy and the Prophet and not belittle or despise these gifts of God.
1 Thessalonians 5:19-21 (KJV)
19 Quench not the Spirit.
20 Despise not prophesyings.
21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
I hope you have found these brief teachings useful and don’t forget to get the book if you haven’t done so already.
