A WELL OF TRUTH
THE BLESSING OF ABRAHAM – PART FOUR

Greetings dear and precious saints of God and welcome back to drawing from A Well of Truth. Today we will continue with part four of looking at the Blessing of Abraham. As we prepare to dive into our teaching, please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you. Thank you for sharing. Also, remember to be reading out loud. You know why, please don’t be rebellious. The featured picture is a well with lots of water and bucket full of water about to be drawn from that well. The water is the Word of God that gives life (zōē Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary, life as God knows life) and cleanses. Receiving life and/or cleansing is not automatic, it is our choice, what have you chosen? Let’s again start our study by going to these familiar Scriptures in the Apostle Pauls’ epistle to the saints at Galatia.
Galatians 3:13-14 (KJV)
13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
Galatians 3:29 (KJV)
29 And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
Last week we saw in Genesis chapter thirteen where Abram and Lot returned to Canaan from Egypt and due to strife between the herdsmen they separated. God had never told Abram to take anyone with him and it had been thirteen years since Abram heard from God in Chapter twelve. If you find that God is quiet, it may be that He is waiting for your obedience. This brings us into Chapter fourteen. Lot and his family have been living in Sodom and it is overrun and Abram rescues him and the others as well as their stuff. Here we will find some extraordinary prophetic imagery, promise of things to come, Abram reached across time and obtained. Faith in God can obtain anything (Matthew 15:21-28).
Genesis 14:18-22 (KJV)
18 And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God.
19 And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth:
20 And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all.
21 And the king of Sodom said unto Abram, Give me the persons, and take the goods to thyself.
22 And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lift up mine hand unto the LORD, the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth,
Many believe that this Melchizedek is an example of the preincarnate Jesus, others that he Noah’s son Shem, and others that he was a natural physical person who was king of Salem (later Jerusalem) and High Priest to God. Which ever one you believe is fine with me. Here in this passage, we see the first direct imagery to the Communion Table. This priest of the Most High God brings forth wine and bread to meet Abram. The wine of course represents the Blood of Jesus, harkening back to the first Passover. The bread is looking forward to the broken body of Christ. Remember the following.
Genesis 12:3 (KJV)
3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
This shed Blood and broken body is for all mankind, praise the Lord. The Blood of Christ blots out our sin as if it never happened upon salvation with the quickening of our spirit man. Life is in the Blood. It is up to us to renew our soul (mind, will, emotions). He purchased our bodies and those who are saved await its redemption.
Romans 8:23 (KJV)
23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.
In the meantime, we do have dominion over the curse if we will stay under authority and exercise authority over the curse, the agents of the curse (evil spirits). Think about Moses (Deuteronomy 34:7) and he wasn’t even born again, how much more should we live and move in the Blessing in Christ Jesus.
Lord willing, I will return next Sunday with more insight to the Blessing of Abraham.

24 GOD bless you and keep you,
25 GOD smile on you and gift you,
26 GOD look you full in the face and make you prosper.
