Welcome back to this dynamic teaching of the wonderful and precious Bible Book of Isaiah. Please pause for a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you. 1 Timothy 2:1-3 (ESV)
1 First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people,
2 for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.
3 This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior,
We are not only to pray but obey and honor.
Titus 3:1 (ESV)
1 Remind them to be submissive to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good work,
Now dear ones let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text in Isaiah continuing to read out loud. You are not a rebellious little sheep, are you?
Isaiah 41:17-20 (GW)
17 “The poor and needy are looking for water, but there is none. Their tongues are parched with thirst. I, the LORD, will answer them. I, the God of Israel, will not abandon them.
18 I will make rivers flow on bare hilltops. I will make springs flow through valleys. I will turn deserts into lakes. I will turn dry land into springs.
19 I will plant cedar, acacia, myrtle, and wild olive trees in the desert. I will place cedar, fir, and cypress trees together in the wilderness.
20 People will see and know. Together they will consider and understand that the LORD’S power has done this, that the Holy One of Israel has created it.
This is all so wonderful as we read it, don’t you think. Is this happening in a vacuum? Is the Lord just deciding to facilitate all these good things with no change in His people. Don’t forget His people are who He is talking too and it is His people from the King down who are in rebellion turning to the arm of flesh, their own wisdom, and the king was became lifted up in pride. What removed the curse from King Hezekiah for a season? Repentance! God has extended His Hand to His people just as He has to us in our time. Will they take His Hand, will we? Will they, will we, keep our hand in His? The Lord is going into great detail as to the benefits of His Hand. Certainly, they should have a firm grip on the results when grasping and relying upon the hand of the world, of man. They have seen this following verse play out.
Jeremiah 17:5-6 (GW)
5 “This is what the LORD says: Cursed is the person who trusts humans, who makes flesh and blood his strength and whose heart turns away from the LORD.
6 He will be like a bush in the wilderness. He will not see when something good comes. He will live in the dry places in the desert, in a salty land where no one can live.
Before we are to hard or judgmental of these people, many of us are living in very dry places right now, is the answer right before us as it was before them?
