WHO OR WHAT HAS YOUR HEART

Greetings dear saints of God and joint heirs with Christ Jesus. I will be continuing to teach from my book “Awake, Arise, and Triumph – Be Love” this week. The main impetus for this book was all the talk about love in Church and among God’s people. In my experience it is rare to hear any definition of what “love” is being discussed. Many times, when people are saying they “love” the Lord or that the Lord loves them they get this angelic look on the face and a faraway look in the eyes. Nothing wrong with that but that is a low-level love (not love at all), and that is not what my book is about nor these teachings. The book and these teachings are about Divine love (agapē/agapaō), the love that God has for us and the love we have for Him, our neighbor, and ourselves. This love resides in our spirit man and is the same love that God has albeit in baby form. This love is a fruit of our spirit. All nine fruit of our spirit are from God and identical to what God is and produces. We have work to do.
As we meditate, think about, talk about God’s love (agapē/agapaō) towards us, I want to give a little further insight. I will start by reviewing the Bible verse we ended with yesterday.
Romans 5:5 (KJV)
5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
The word “hearts” in this verse is the Greek word transliterated to English as kardia referring to the thoughts or feelings, the middle [man] according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. The heart referred to is the soul which houses the mind, the will, and the emotions. So, what is shed abroad in our hearts? It is the knowledge of the love of God! We cannot act upon anything we don’t have knowledge of. We can have ownership of something but if we don’t know we never use of enjoy it. Love is already resident in our spirit man which is alive ready for exercise and expression with the new birth (salvation).
What about hope in our Romans 5:5 Scripture? Biblical hope is the earnest expectation of imminent manifestation and will not leave us ashamed because the manifestation is not in doubt; the only variable is the timing. And why is that? Well, this Scripture says it is because the love of God has been shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is our Teacher. The love of God is His fidelity to His Word. Yes, God obeys His own Word. This knowledge of the faithfulness of God is poured out into our soul, the home of our mind, our will, and our emotions as a testimony. How does faith come? Faith comes by hearing the Word of God. The following passages are a part of the ultimate demonstration of the love of God for you and me. They are also a demonstration of His commitment to the Covenant. He did not say, “are you kidding, become a man and die, get out of here”. He said, “Yes I will redeem you according to my Word no matter the cost”. (Quotations, authors literary license)
Philippians 2:5-9 (KJV)
5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
Jesus shed all that made Him God (big G) which are omnipresence, omnipotence, and omniscience. He became as a man and operated as a man with no hidden escape hatch. However, He was not born of sin like other men since the fall in the Garden. He was born sinless and stayed sinless. He operated on the earth by faith in authority as initially given Adam and the Blessing. Operating as God was not a backup option.
Jesus is called the “last Adam” (1 Corinthians 15:45). We are not like Adam who was subject to the Law of Sin and Death. We have been freed of the Law of Sin and Death by Christ Jesus who bore all sin and all death in our behalf. We, the children of God, since Calvary, have forgiveness of sin with repentance and full restoration (1 John 1:9). We, the redeemed don’t die spiritually as did Adam when we sin but we have the gift of repentance, forgiveness, and full restoration. The Father in honor of the Blood Covenant between Him and Abraham (Jesus and the Holy Spirit) sent Jesus to the Cross and made Him sin in our behalf. And, just like Isaac willingly allowed himself to be a sacrifice on Mount Moriah so did Jesus on the very same mountain.
Hebrews 12:2 (KJV)
2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
TAKE HOME:
- Many times, when people are saying they “love” the Lord or that the Lord loves them they get this angelic look on the face and a faraway look in the eyes. Nothing wrong with that but that is a low-level love (not love at all), and that is not what my book is about nor these teachings.
- The love of God is His fidelity to His Word. Yes, God obeys His own Word. He didn’t need redemption, He is selfless. And He abided by the Blood Covenant that started in the Garden and saw its successful testing Genesis chapter 22.
- Hebrews 12:2 (KJV) Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Lord willing, I will resume right here tomorrow. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
