AWAKE, ARISE, AND TRIUMPH

BEFORE THE CHILD SHALL HAVE KNOWLEDGE
Greetings dear and precious saints of the only living God (capital G). There are many gods (little g) in the earth which may be a thing, an activity, and a person, they may be many in any given person’s life. These gods are anything, any activity, any person that is put before God, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. We are the seed of Abraham. Welcome back to this empowering and dynamic study of the Bible Book of Isaiah. Please take a moment before I move forward to share these teachings as widely as possible. The featured picture is again from a leaf peeping outing last fall in Maine. The landscape is beautiful in this fallen state, can you imagine what Adam saw, what we will see even in the Millennial Reign with Christ, and then when the new heavens and new earth is created? The wonders we have to look forward to are beyond our imaginations and language to describe. However, for now we must truly focus on the Kingdom of God and His righteousness fulfilling our work in the earth for the Father, under the headship of Christ, and with the help of the Holy Spirit. When we come to the Judgment Seat of Christ, we will have no legitimate excuse for not fulfilling His plan for our lives in the earth for the Kingdom. Now let’s turn our attention to our primary text from the eighth chapter of Isaiah and continue reading out loud.
Isaiah 8:1-4 (KJV)
1 Moreover the LORD said unto me, Take thee a great roll, and write in it with a man’s pen concerning Mahershalalhashbaz.
2 And I took unto me faithful witnesses to record, Uriah the priest, and Zechariah the son of Jeberechiah.
3 And I went unto the prophetess; and she conceived, and bare a son. Then said the LORD to me, Call his name Mahershalalhashbaz.
4 For before the child shall have knowledge to cry, My father, and my mother, the riches of Damascus and the spoil of Samaria shall be taken away before the king of Assyria.
I will pick up where we left off last Thursday. Wow, how would we like to be named Mahershalalhashbaz? As you have noticed the speaker is once again Isaiah, God speaking through Isaiah. Isaiah’s wife is a prophet (prophetess) as well. She conceives and the name of the child reflects the judgment of God upon the people, the land. Take a look at this first verse in the Message Bible.
Isaiah 8:1 (MSG)
1 Then GOD told me, “Get a big sheet of paper and write in indelible ink, ‘This belongs to Maher-shalal-hash-baz (Spoil-Speeds-Plunder-Hurries).’ ”
All of God’s people are under an adverse judgment due to their choice to sin, to ignore, to turn away from Jehovah God. Our sin, these people’s sin, the judgment that always comes from unrepented sin, not only affects God’s people (judgment starts with the house of God [1 Peter 4:17]) but spills over onto the heathen as well. Our sin many times has much collateral damage. Just think about Job. Yes, Job sinned, God wasn’t testing Jobs’ metal so to speak. Our God, our Heavenly Father will never be convicted of child abuse. Be reminded again as to how this all started.
Isaiah 1:2-4 (KJV)
2 Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth: for the LORD hath spoken, I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against me.
3 The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his master’s crib: but Israel doth not know, my people doth not consider.
4 Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward.
This judgment is not because of the evil of the heathen but the evil of the people of God. We don’t hear this taught and it is a travesty, a breach of duty before God of His messengers. We are taught that we are goody two shoes and all the evils in the earth are caused by the awful people in the world. That is a lie, a doctrine of devils. Every good thing and every evil thing going on around us is because we have allowed it. Plagues in the land (like COVID-19) are due to wickedness and the failure to exercise authority by Gods’ people. As we look back at our text, God is telling His people, the whole nation, that before this child can call his father and mothers name, they will be taken away by the Assyrians. Even now, there is time for repentance.

2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.

24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
