AWAKE, ARISE, AND TRIUMPH

THE LORD SPAKE AGAIN

Greetings dear and precious saints of God and welcome back to our study of the wonderful Bible Book of Isaiah. Today is also the 80th Anniversary of the awful attack on Pearl Harbor catapulting us (America) into the Second World War. On that day in 1941 which President Franklin Delano Roosevelt declared would live in infamy 2403 were killed and another 1178 wounded. Where were God’s people? Do these great wars need to be? Before we delve into our Isaiah study consider this. These following passages are speaking about King Solomon.
1 Kings 4:24-25 (KJV)
24 For he had dominion over all the region on this side the river, from Tiphsah even to Azzah, over all the kings on this side the river: and he had peace on all sides round about him.
25 And Judah and Israel dwelt safely, every man under his vine and under his fig tree, from Dan even to Beersheba, all the days of Solomon. (Bold added)
Why?
1 Kings 3:12-14 (KJV)
12 Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee.
13 And I have also given thee that which thou hast not asked, both riches, and honour: so that there shall not be any among the kings like unto thee all thy days.
14 And if thou wilt walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as thy father David did walk, then I will lengthen thy days.
I wonder if putting God’s people (loving our neighbor) and the Kingdom first still pleases God (tongue in cheek) and would get the same result today? Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text in the wonderful Book of Isaiah.
Isaiah 8:5-8 (KJV)
5 The LORD spake also unto me again, saying,
6 Forasmuch as this people refuseth the waters of Shiloah that go softly, and rejoice in Rezin and Remaliah’s son;
7 Now therefore, behold, the Lord bringeth up upon them the waters of the river, strong and many, even the king of Assyria, and all his glory: and he shall come up over all his channels, and go over all his banks:
8 And he shall pass through Judah; he shall overflow and go over, he shall reach even to the neck; and the stretching out of his wings shall fill the breadth of thy land, O Immanuel.
The Lord continues to speak to and through Isaiah to His people. These judgements do not happen without a lengthy warning period particularly when a nation is involved. We, the Church, are responsible for the safety of the whole nation, not just ourselves. God is warning His people, look the King of Assyria is going to flood over you like a great flow of water. There is still time for repentance. Think about Nineveh.
Jonah 1:1-2 (KJV)
1 Now the word of the LORD came unto Jonah the son of Amittai, saying,
2 Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it; for their wickedness is come up before me.
You know that Jonah rebelled at first but with some persuasion from God went and preached to them and they repented.
Jonah 3:4-5 (KJV)
4 And Jonah began to enter into the city a day’s journey, and he cried, and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown.
5 So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them.
They received the message and repented and did not have war and go into captivity.
Jonah 3:10 (KJV)
10 And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.
Do you think that if the Church would judge itself (each of us and corporately) and repent, that not only would righteousness be returned to all seven spheres of influence (pillars) but this plague and those to follow would be stayed? Did you notice that verse eight of our text (Isaiah 8:8) makes a Messianic reference? Saying that the Assyrians would flood the land of the Messiah
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow. Also, remember that we love (agape) you and there is nothing you can do about it.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.

Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
