CLIMATE AND THE WRATH OF GOD
Sunday – January 7, 2018

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Recently an article caught my eye and it riled me up but I more or less forgot about it and then I believe the Lord brought it to my attention once again. I believe the purpose of His bringing my attention back to this article was to speak to the body of Christ about climate change, what used to be called global warming. This will be a short and Scripturally based discussion. The article in question was published by Fox News on the 10th of December and is titled: Jerry Brown: Trump doesn’t fear ‘the wrath of God’”. The Jerry Brown referred to here is the present Governor of California and the location of devastating wild fires due to drought in December 2017. The “Trump” referred to is of course our President Trump. The following is a quote from Governor Jerry Brown from the very short article: “The truth of the case is that there’s too much carbon being emitted, that heat-trapping gasses are building up, the planet is warming and all hell is breaking loose…So I’d say to Mr. Trump, take a deeper look. Now is not the time to undo what every country in the world is committed to.”
To be fair to Governor Brown much of what he is saying is true, not so much here as around the world. The question is with regard to how our planet is to be taken care of and why the current schemes are not the answer. The plans that the world have devised to solve the “global warming”, “climate change” issue involve staggering sums of money for almost no return or benefit concerning a supposed upward trend in global temperatures (which do not exist). Keep in mind that small increases in temperatures from the increase of carbon dioxide leads to increased plant growth. The increased plant growth makes food less expensive feeding more people. The increased vegetation will lead to less expensive derivative products and will again lead to lower temperatures and, so it goes around and around. These proposed and to some extent implemented ideas are transfer of wealth schemes and the development of alternative sources of energy away from fossil driving the cost of energy up for all peoples especially third world countries. These are devilish (literally) ideas for it seeks to impoverish the United States of America, a Covenant nation with God, an instrument of the Kingdom, a bright light and source of the gospel to the whole world. In addition, these schemes will lead to impossible levels of energy expense in third world countries keeping them poor, keeping them from development, and leading to increasing levels of poor health and death. The Devils fingerprints are all over these schemes.
God gave the responsibility for the earth which includes not only the physical globe but the atmosphere to man.
Genesis 1:26 (KJV)
26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. (Bold added by Dr. Wood)
Today that dominion and responsibility belongs to the Church, those with the supernatural dominion authority. As with most things in the Kingdom of God there will be the spiritual and physical side of what the Church is to do. We, all of us but especially the sons of God, are to do our part in caring for the earth and exploring methods and technologies that reduce the production of the curse in the earth. God did not put all these fossil fuels in the earth and hope we did not find them or use them, they are for us. We, the Church, should be the extraordinary ideas persons and inventors upon the earth, after all, we have the mind of Christ. Remember that all physical things come from the spiritual realm whether they be good or bad. The primary way that the sons of God are to operate in the earth is by speaking (spiritual) causing the physical to conform. Our Heavenly Father taught us this starting with Genesis 1:3. Pay particular attention to this next verse telling us that we have been given the Blessing (Holy Spirit and Power) to accomplish all of the will of God which includes the subduing of the earth.
Genesis 1:28 (KJV)
28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
From the creation God built mechanisms, physical mechanisms, into the earth ecosystem to compensate for the inattention of man, really the disobedience of man, as evidenced by the following verse.
Genesis 8:22 (KJV)
22 While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.
So, with this foundation, let me ask, what is the fundamental cause of climate or weather issues? Man is rebellious, has gone his own way, and the Church has become powerless due to the traditions of men and the doctrines of devils. The Church as a whole believes they are at the mercy of the weather and not the other way around. The Church has allowed gross darkness to pervade over the land retreating from Satan and his demonic hoards (not people) into the Church house. The wildfires in California and the horrific hurricanes with the attendant devastation this past year are not the wrath of God. They are the result of the people of God not subduing the curse, and a lack of repentance allowing the devil to steal, kill, and destroy. This is due to the watered-down pabulum (bland or insipid intellectual fare, or entertainment per the Oxford Dictionary) heard in most Churches Sunday after Sunday. The Church must get back to training warriors! Pure and simple.
As I conclude I want to bring something to your attention that the Lord brought to my attention one morning in prayer as I was looking at the effects of sin and repentance. If you look at Joel chapter two you see the ravages of sin and then as the chapter develops there is a repentance with an outpouring of the cleansing water of the Word which brings restoration and exceeding abundance. The Word from the Lord was this; a failure to worship Him brings drought, no rain, physical or spiritual. Consider the following.
Zechariah 14:17 (KJV)
17 And it shall be, that whoso will not come up of all the families of the earth unto Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, even upon them shall be no rain.
This always causes us to circle back to a very familiar verse which never grows old and it seems we never quite seem to grasp that it could be talking to us.
2 Chronicles 7:14 (KJV)
14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
Until our next publication, I speak blessing into your life right now, receive it in the name of Jesus, confess it, and walk it out with thanksgiving.
Numbers 6:24-26 (KJV)
24 The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:
25 The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
26 The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
