DISOBEDIENCE AND JUDGMENT

Arkansas Supreme Court
Greetings dear saints of God, friends and partners of this Ministry, and welcome back to our Bible Study of the Book of Isaiah. Please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible to expand our reach with the gospel, the good news, the Truth. Thank you for sharing. Those who share these teachings are vital to this Ministry. The featured picture today is of the Arkansas Supreme Court and is serving as a reminder of the command to pray for all those in authority and submit to authority.
1 Timothy 2:2 (PassionNTPsa)
1 Most of all, I’m writing to encourage you to pray with gratitude to God. Pray for all men with all forms of prayers and requests as you intercede with intense passion. 2 And pray for every political leader and representative, so that we would be able to live tranquil, undisturbed lives, as we worship the awe-inspiring God with pure hearts. It is pleasing to our Savior-God to pray for them.
Titus 3:1 (MSG)
1 Remind the people to respect the government and be law-abiding, always ready to lend a helping hand
Now let’s turn our attention to our main Bible text in the Book of Isaiah and please continue reading out loud. Do we want to know one of the reasons we’re not seeing the full manifestation of the Promises of God in our life, we’re not reading out loud with ears to hear? I wish I could tell us that it is due to some mysterious beyond our understanding plan of God, but, no, it’s us.
Isaiah 13:1-5 (KJV)
1 The burden of Babylon, which Isaiah the son of Amoz did see.
2 Lift ye up a banner upon the high mountain, exalt the voice unto them, shake the hand, that they may go into the gates of the nobles.
3 I have commanded my sanctified ones, I have also called my mighty ones for mine anger, even them that rejoice in my highness.
4 The noise of a multitude in the mountains, like as of a great people; a tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations gathered together: the LORD of hosts mustereth the host of the battle.
5 They come from a far country, from the end of heaven, even the LORD, and the weapons of his indignation, to destroy the whole land.
As we are moving forward, I want to remind us all that these passages are difficult (goes without saying) to interpret at best, especially with regard to timing. It seems to me that there is a near time fulfillment and a more distant in time fulfillment. By that I mean that God’s people are about to fall to the Assyrian sword due to disobedience. They have turned aside to other word, other than the Word of God, and are serving other gods. Other words are those of demons, like Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, the ways of the world, the kingdom of darkness over which the Devil and devils’ rule. The more distant fulfillment is during and at the end of the Great Tribulation (Joel 2:31, Matthew 24:29) with the clue in Isaiah 13:10.
Ultimately these other gods are demons. We are to have no other gods before (placed higher in our lives) than the One True Living God. These other gods may be a person, a job, a sport, a hobby, a political party/figure, a false religion, traditions of men, and so on. It is not uncommon that the judgment of God due to disobedience comes through other people in one fashion or another. We see this over and over in the Old Covenant when the whole nation falls into disobedience, like now in America. Sometimes when individuals are disobedient there can be consequences from other persons, or forces of “nature”. Think about Job when storms and people (Job 1) brought disaster into his life due to the sin of fear (Job 3:25). Think about the “man of God” killed by a lion in 1 Kings 13.
What can stop all of this, avoiding destruction and bondage? Repentance! One of the master deceptions of the demons is convincing people they have no need of repentance; they see nothing they are doing wrong. When stealing, killing, and destroying enters (not just threatening) our lives (community, State, Nation) there is always something wrong and it is with us (Gods’ people).
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Receive the blessing in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (MSG)
24 GOD bless you and keep you,
25 GOD smile on you and gift you,
26 GOD look you full in the face and make you prosper.
