A WELL OF TRUTH
YOKED
Greetings dear and precious saints of God and welcome back to A Well of Truth. This week I will once again be looking at the question of, with whom are we yoked. Please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you. Thank you so much for sharing. You are a blessing to this Ministry and the Kingdom of God.
The featured picture today is of two oxen who are yoked together. These oxen appear to be of equal size and strength and presumably working in unison would make the load lighter for the other. To work together or in unison there must be an absence of discord and there must be agreement, harmony, unity, union, and unanimity. Now, let’s look back at the question in the brief opening paragraph which was, with whom are you yoked, with whom am I yoked? Like it or not there are only two kingdoms in the earth and we are yoked with the leader of one or the other. Those two kingdoms are the Kingdom of God and the kingdom of darkness. Jesus is the head of the Kingdom of God and Satan is the head of the kingdom of darkness. All of us are yoked primarily with one or the other. Listen to what Jesus had to say about being yoked with Him.
Matthew 11:29-30 (KJV)
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
This sounds really good to me. If our yoke is not easy and our burden (assignment) light it is not Jesus alone with whom we are yoked. Let’s take a glance at the other guy’s kingdom.
John 10:10 (KJV)
10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
Let’s see, stealing, killing, and destroying or abundant life. I hope you are not having difficulty seeing a very drastic contrast here. First and foremost, it is vital to be yoked with Jesus, the Kingdom of God. This is not just by far the best choice for this life but for the one to come which is for eternity. By the way, there is no such thing as this life and then lights out. Being yoked means to be joined with another. It is far better to be joined or yoked with a person or persons with whom we are in full agreement than with a person or persons with whom we do not agree. I am using the word agreement here in a broad sense. Know that we have to be in agreement about the goal, the purpose, the methods, the exertion to be expended, and so on for the yoking to be most efficient. Listen to this, you are reading out loud, aren’t you?

3 Can two walk together, except they be agreed?
The Apostle Paul talks about this at some length in a very familiar Scripture.
2 Corinthians 6:14-18 (KJV)
14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?
16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,
18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
Starting with verse fourteen the “ye” is you the believer are not to be yoked with an unbeliever whether that be dating, marriage, or partnership in business. Then he goes on to illuminate the contrast between the believer and unbeliever. When we are born again, translated from darkness to light we are to leave behind the unclean things and step into the realities of being a son and daughter of the Lord Almighty. The unclean (morally impure) things are the things of the world and the conversation of the world. For example, when we are born again, we don’t go fishing on Sunday morning. I can assure you Jesus, the One to whom we are yoked is not fishing on Sunday morning. Look back at the picture of the two oxen at the beginning of this teaching, what if one of them was going one direction and one the other? Consider the following.
Matthew 6:33 (KJV)
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
As a believer our primary objective right along with our King, the Head of the Church, is to put the Kingdom of God first doing things in accordance with, in concert with, the King the way the King does it. We were doing things according to our father the devil.
2 Corinthians 5:17-18 (KJV)
17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
The things of the world, their way of thinking and doing is in the past and we are now Kingdom of God focused.
Romans 12:2 (KJV)
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
We change our mind from the ways of Satan to the ways of God by the Word of God. This is the Law of Displacement. Of course, the Words of God, must be received, proven, believed with no doubt, and acted upon in faith.
