FROM THE PROPHETS CHAMBER – WEEK SIXTY-SEVEN
“IT IS FINISHED” – PART TWO

John 19:30 (KJV)
30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.
Greetings dear and precious saints of God and welcome back to this Bible teaching “From the Prophets Chamber”, Part Two of “It is Finished”. If you are not yet a “saint” of God meaning that you are born from above, you are in Christ Jesus, a son or daughter of the Father, change that right now. You will not regret it, especially when your eyes close in death and Heaven is your destination and not Hell. Find a Bible and find the following passage and become a Kingdom of God kid being translated from darkness to light.
Romans 10:9-10 (KJV)
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Welcome into the light, into the Kingdom of God. I realize that Passover and Resurrection Sunday are now weeks in the rearview mirror however the Lord has been teaching me about the verse above containing the phrase from Jesus’ lips “It is finished”. Last Saturday we covered a lot of territory and hopefully you printed it off or have reviewed it before proceeding today. What was finished when He uttered that phrase? The work of redemption was not complete. The Resurrection is certainly as important as the sacrifice and that had not yet occurred. Jesus although being made sin in our stead (our scapegoat) was innocent of sin and that would be revealed in the judgement (Hebrews 9:27-28, Revelation 12:11). He was innocent having no sin that was His own and that combined with His testimony of the voice of the Prophets (really His own voice through the Prophets) before brought of judgment in Hell, that He was innocent of sin and then He went into the Bosom of Abraham to preach the gospel and lead those captive there free.
1 Peter 3:18-19 (KJV)
18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;
Who were those “spirits in prison”? The Old Testament saints.
Ephesians 4:7-10 (KJV)
7 But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.
8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.
9 (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?
10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)
Praise God that at His Resurrection they also were resurrected (first wave of the First Resurrection) and led into Heaven awaiting the Church.
Ephesians 1:19-20 (KJV)
19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
You and are seated with Him even this very day in Heaven at the right hand of the Father. He attained unto a spiritual resurrection at our new birth!
Ephesians 2:6 (KJV)
6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
So, back to the question, what was finished since we have established that the work of salvation was not finished or complete. Let’s carefully examine the following verse.
John 13:2-4 (KJV)
2 And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray him;
3 Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God;
4 He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself.
What do you think about the third verse? The events to follow up until His physical death were in Jesus’ hand. The Father did not make Him go to the Cross; Jesus had to do it willingly. Remember, the Blood Covenant that guaranteed our redemption by the Law of Reciprocity with Abraham and Isaac on Mount Moriah (Genesis chapter 22). When Jesus uttered those Words “it is finished” on the Cross and gave up the ghost (spirit/soul) His part was done and it was now all in the Fathers Hand.
Luke 23:46 (KJV)
46 And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.
As we have reviewed the Father found Him innocent by His own Blood and the Words of His testimony and thus, He was fully restored and us with Him. Up to this time all was led of what He heard or saw of the Father (by the agency of the Holy Spirit) but now, for three days, it was in His hand to do what the Covenant demanded. However, He was never alone! Notice the phrase “into thy hands”. Who are the hands of God, the Holy Spirit principally but also the holy angels? Notice the following verse.
Hebrews 9:14 (KJV)
14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
The answer to the question of what was finished is that Jesus’ part in the redemption was done and now the Father was once again (as before) directing the Redemption process.
I hope that this study has been as interesting and instructive for you as it has been for me. Lord willing, next Saturday I will be back with fresh fire from the Throne.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Receive the blessing in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (MSG)
24 GOD bless you and keep you,
25 GOD smile on you and gift you,
26 GOD look you full in the face and make you prosper.
