GONE AWAY BACKWARD
Greeting precious redeemed children of God and greetings to those who are still running from God. Welcome back to this powerful, revelatory, and empowering study of the Bible Book of Isaiah. God is so good to give us His Word to direct our path in the way of righteousness. God created this whole thing. Believe it or not, He actually knows what works perfectly and what is fatally flawed. The featured picture today is provided by our good friend Joe Getchell Jr. a man after God’s own heart. As we move forward, please take a moment to share these teachings as widely as possible. Every person reading this has the opportunity to tell and spread this good news.
All persons are conceived and die physically. Many if not all of us at times act like and think like the status quo is forever. It is not! At birth every person whether they know it or not have an obligation before God to do all of His will. His will yields the most amazing life imaginable. Few pick Gods’ path early on and way too many never chose God’s path. They are taught they can do anything they want or they believe they know a better way. Just think how foolish it is to think we have a better way than the one who Created all things, preplanned a spectacular life for each of us (Heaven upon the earth), the one who loves (agape) us, and paid an incalculable price for us. How absurd! Unfortunately, we see this in the Church as well, people chose to be saved because they don’t want to go to Hell, and then do their own thing from there on. It should not be! Each of us were purchased by Christ Jesus at Calvary, we are not our own, we have obligations before God. Those obligations are so far outweighed by benefits, there is no comparison. Why do we fight against the Lord? I’m not talking about the heathen; I’m talking about you and me brother and sister.
When our physical eyes close in death only one thing matters and that is, did we choose Jesus as our Lord and Savior. If we did choose Him, what did we do with the wonderful opportunity He gave unto us in the earth. Did we pay one lick of attention to the Eden Mandates (seven eternal commands) or did we just wing it? Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text and read it aloud, yes, out loud. Faith comes by hearing not by seeing.
Isaiah 1:4-7 (KJV)
4 Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward.
5 Why should ye be stricken any more? ye will revolt more and more: the whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint.
6 From the sole of the foot even unto the head there is no soundness in it; but wounds, and bruises, and putrifying sores: they have not been closed, neither bound up, neither mollified with ointment.
7 Your country is desolate, your cities are burned with fire: your land, strangers devour it in your presence, and it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers.
The Prophet Isaiah spoke the Words of God as the Holy Spirit moved upon him to expose the wicked state of God’s people. We expect the heathen to be wicked, their god is Satan, but we don’t expect God’s people to be wicked. I believe I have mentioned before something every believer should know and that is the fact that God’s people go through cycles of righteousness and wickedness. Just read your Bible. This ought not to be! The devil’s fulltime job is to get us to compromise righteousness.
John 10:10 (KJV)
10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
He, the devil, wants to steal, kill, and destroy anything and everything in our lives even remotely connected to God, especially our faith in God. Hear the Apostle Peter who had firsthand experience with the devils’ deceptions.
1 Peter 5:8 (KJV)
8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
His tactics seem obvious from a distance. For example, when we look back at Eve and Adam or even Peter denying Jesus and perhaps suppose in our heart, we would not have fallen for what we see as an obvious subterfuge (deceit to achieve a goal). However, as we examine our lives honestly, have we wondered how we fell for what now seems obvious lies of the devil? When we believed the devil and set the Word of God aside and perhaps did not even think about the Word of God, we took a step backward. There is no backward in the Kingdom of God. If we find that we have “gone away backward” let us repent, get the armor of God back on and get about the business of advancing the Kingdom of God.

2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
