I HAVE CHOSEN YOU

Greetings dear friends and partners of Eastern Gate Ministries Inc. and The Three Minute Word blog. Welcome back to our ongoing study of the wonderful Bible Book of Isaiah. What a ride! Please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you to expand our reach with this beyond good, good news. Thank you for sharing. The featured picture today is of a congregation presumably receiving instruction in righteousness to remind us to pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ. Please be sure you are reading out loud.
Ephesians 1:15-17 (AMP)
15 For this reason, because I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love toward all the saints (the people of God),
16 I do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers.
17 [For I always pray to] the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, that He may grant you a spirit of wisdom and revelation [of insight into mysteries and secrets] in the [deep and intimate] knowledge of Him,
Notice in verse fifteen that the reason the Apostle Paul is praying this prayer is because he has heard these people are displaying faith in the Lord Jesus and love (agapē) towards all saints. I point that out because this is not the prayer for those who are not walking in faith and/or love (agapē). Jesus said you will know them by their fruit, and apparently the Apostle Paul identified these folks by the fruits of faith and love. For the sake of space, I have only printed part of this prayer, it is well worth looking at the whole passage and making it a part of your regular prayer time concerning yourself and others. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text in the Book of Isaiah continuing to read out loud.
Isaiah 41:5-9 (TLB)
5 The lands beyond the sea watch in fear and wait for word of Cyrus’ new campaigns. Remote lands tremble and mobilize for war.
6-7 The craftsmen encourage each other as they rush to make new idols to protect them. The carver hurries the goldsmith, and the molder helps at the anvil. “Good,” they say. “It’s coming along fine. Now we can solder on the arms.” Carefully they join the parts together and then fasten the thing in place so it won’t fall over!
8 “But as for you, O Israel, you are mine, my chosen ones; for you are Abraham’s family, and he was my friend.
9 I have called you back from the ends of the earth and said that you must serve but me alone, for I have chosen you and will not throw you away.
Yesterday I left off talking about how God honors the righteous of prior generations showing mercy to a later generation.
2 Kings 8:19 (KJV)
19 Yet the LORD would not destroy Judah for David his servant’s sake, as he promised him to give him alway a light, and to his children.
As mentioned above we see this in the account of King Hezekiah.
Isaiah 38:5 (KJV)
5 Go, and say to Hezekiah, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will add unto thy days fifteen years.
One should never discount the value of a righteous life and its impact on succeeding generations.
Deuteronomy 7:9 (KJV)
9 Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;
Before I end for today let’s look at the following verse in James talking about Abraham being a Friend of God.
James 2:23 (KJV)
23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.
Here is what the Apostle Paul had to say about it.
Romans 4:20-22 (KJV)
20 He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;
21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.
22 And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.
Believing God is also called faith, which to be real faith not just confessed faith. Real faith, genuine faith does not stagger, waver, and is being fully persuaded. What one is believing for is the only possible option not one of many. Then and only then is one a friend of God. Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow.

2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Receive the blessing in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (MSG)
24 GOD bless you and keep you,
25 GOD smile on you and gift you,
26 GOD look you full in the face and make you prosper.
