I THE LORD THY GOD

Greetings dear friends and partners of Eastern Gate Ministries Inc. and The Three Minute Word blog. Welcome back to our ongoing study of the wonderful Bible Book of Isaiah. What a ride! Please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you to expand our reach with this beyond good, good news. Thank you for sharing. The featured picture today is of Donna and me at Cornerstone Church and a Night to Honor Israel a couple of years ago. Now, let’s turn our attention to the teaching for today. Please be sure you are reading out loud.
Isaiah 41:10-13 (KJV)
10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
11 Behold, all they that were incensed against thee shall be ashamed and confounded: they shall be as nothing; and they that strive with thee shall perish.
12 Thou shalt seek them, and shalt not find them, even them that contended with thee: they that war against thee shall be as nothing, and as a thing of nought.
13 For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.
We left off yesterday talking about the commands to fear not and not to be discouraged (cast down). I discussed the difference between feeling the presence of fear and discouragement (evil spirits) and letting them in and having fear and being discouraged. When we are resisting fear and discouragement we are thinking the Word of God, we are speaking the Word of God and we are continuing in our Kingdom of God assignments. When we have let fear and discouragement in, we are thinking about them, speaking them and are distracted from our Kingdom assignments.
1 John 4:18 (KJV)
18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
When we allow fear (yes, we allow) our focus is no longer love (agapē) but it’s, “what about me”. When we are not walking in love (agapē) our faith fails. It is impossible to please God without faith (Hebrews 11:6). When fear is allowed in we have then put more faith in what we fear than our Lord and when discouragement is let in we have discarded our hope in Christ Jesus. Let’s make a decision not to do that ignoring feelings. When we resist fear and dismay, don’t let them in, the Lord is pleased for our faith is in Him, and our love is intact and His Hand moves in our behalf.
Now, on to verse eleven of our text. Interestingly the number eleven in the Scripture has to do with being in alignment with God. Isn’t that what verse ten is all about. The number ten is all about responsibility, ours and Gods. When we do our part, He does His. God is not in fear nor discouragement. In order for us to be in fear and/or discouragement we are not in alignment with God, not walking with Him but with another. I can’t speak for you but I want to walk with the Master and not another. In the Master, with the Master, is overflowing abundance for every area of this life and beyond. With another only stealing, killing, destroying and eternal misery lies ahead.
As we stay aligned with God, stay in love, in faith, and in the full assurance of the Word of God our enemies will fad and what seemed so overwhelming will become as nothing in our sight (and in reality). As we walk in our governmental authority in the earth, occupying, our enemies become as nothing before us and in our sight. Remember the children of Israel saw themselves as grasshoppers and delayed the promises of God forty years when all the while in reality the people in the Promised Land saw themselves as grasshoppers and feared the children of Israel. Our spiritual enemies, we battle not with flesh and blood, are afraid of us and tremble. We must know who we are in Christ Jesus. We must have unwavering faith, confidence, in our position as sons seated at the Right Hand of the Father in Christ Jesus. And, we must never doubt the matchless Power that acts in our behalf.
Finally, we come to verse thirteen (the number of rebellion and depravity) and the Lord assures us He is holding our right hand, reminds us He is our Lord (one of highest authority) and our God, and again admonishes us too not be afraid. When we allow fear accompanied by dismay whose hand are we holding, who is our lord, and who is our god?
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next week, next month. Remember, we love you and there is nothing you can do about it.
