I WILL HELP YOU

Greetings dear and precious saints of God and welcome back to this wonderful study of the Bible Book of Isaiah. God is so good to keep His people fully informed if they will but look at His Book and study. As we move forward, please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you. Thank you so much for sharing. You are important to us and to the Kingdom of God. The featured picture today was taken of Donna and me in April of 2019 at Celebrate Jesus Church of God in Pittsfield Maine. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text in the Book of Isaiah continuing to read out loud.
Isaiah 41:13-17 (KJV)
13 For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.
14 Fear not, thou worm Jacob, and ye men of Israel; I will help thee, saith the LORD, and thy redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.
15 Behold, I will make thee a new sharp threshing instrument having teeth: thou shalt thresh the mountains, and beat them small, and shalt make the hills as chaff.
16 Thou shalt fan them, and the wind shall carry them away, and the whirlwind shall scatter them: and thou shalt rejoice in the LORD, and shalt glory in the Holy One of Israel.
17 When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongue faileth for thirst, I the LORD will hear them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them.
You will recall that God is talking to His people through His Prophet Isaiah, not the devils’ people. His people have fallen to a very low estate (place). God offers to take their hand, with their hand in His there is no foe that can ever stand before them, the same is true for us. As He offers His Hand, He gives a command “Fear not” followed by the reassurance “I will help you”. Do we believe this, did they believe this? Are we fully persuaded? Or do we have more faith in the mountain before us or the threatened thing than God? Whose words do we fully trust? Our predominant thoughts, words, and actions will tell the story. The command to fear not or some variation of that occurs many times in Scripture. Must be important that we fear (dread, anxiety, distress, panic or have apprehension) not. The antonym of fear is assurance. What do we believe, the threat accompanied by fear or the assurance of God “I will help thee”?
Coming into verse fourteen we again hear (you are reading out loud, right?) the command to not fear. We obey by focusing on God, the Word of God, the solution and not the problem. We do whatever the situation calls for in the natural, but we give preeminent attention to the Truth. The Lord God then refers to His people as a worm. We talked about the meaning of this word Tuesday. Some spend way too much time thinking of themselves as a worm rather than as who they are in Christ Jesus. Religion has taught many that they are worms in the dirt but that is not true. We are sons of the Creator God, brethren with and in Christ, joint-heirs of the whole estate, and filled with the Holy Spirit who not only knows all but has unrivaled (not even close) Power. Then once again the Lord says; “I will help thee”. That word help means to surround, protect or aid, help, or succour according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. You see that word right there at the end, succour. That is the same word used when God told Adam He was giving him a help meet (by the way not helpmate). We see the same word over in Hebrews referring to Jesus as our help, dare I say help meet.
Hebrews 2:18 (KJV)
18 For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.
The help meet thing is a two-way street which is to say wife to husband, husband to wife, Jesus to Church, and Church to Jesus. The Church or body of Christ is the bride of Christ. Do we believe Jesus is able to come to our aid and help in the time of temptation? Can Jesus, the Word help when we are tempted to fear for example. What about when we focus on what the devils tell us is wrong instead of what Jesus did to make all things right for those in Him?
The “LORD” in our text is the One we see as God the Father, the self-existent, eternal One. As I close for today, we come to something very interesting which is the word “redeemer”. This has the idea of being our next of kin, our kinsman redeemer. We see a type and shadow of this in the account of Ruth and Boaz. They, even before the Cross and Resurrection, were children of God, kin with God. They were related, we are related, we are family with the Creator of all in Christ Jesus. They were in the family on credit if I can put it that way until the Messiah would come. This is just like we read about Abraham.
Romans 4:3 (KJV)
3 For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next Monday.
