AWAKE, ARISE, AND TRIUMPH
Thursday – December 30, 2021, Tevet 26, 5782
I WILL WAIT UPON THE LORD
Greetings dear and precious saints of God, children of the Most High, brothers and sister of Christ and in Christ. Welcome back to this instructive and empowering study of the Bible Book of Isaiah. Please take a moment before we proceed to share these teachings as widely as possible disseminating the Truth beyond the reach of this Ministry. The featured picture of Donna and me was taken on Thanksgiving Day at Bob’s Steak and Chop House. This is the first time I have done this in my lifetime and let me tell you, I think it is the way to go, especially at this stage of life. Now, let’s turn our attention to our Bible Study continuing to read out loud our primary Bible text.
Isaiah 8:15-18 (KJV)
15 And many among them shall stumble, and fall, and be broken, and be snared, and be taken.
16 Bind up the testimony, seal the law among my disciples.
17 And I will wait upon the LORD, that hideth his face from the house of Jacob, and I will look for him.
18 Behold, I and the children whom the LORD hath given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the LORD of hosts, which dwelleth in mount Zion.
As we review our text, we see verse fifteen all around us. Jesus said you shall know them by their fruit good or bad. He is not talking only about those who abandon faith in Christ Jesus but also those who buy into the traditions of men and the doctrines of demons and walk out a life full of the curse. As we precede forward, we find the admonition to preserve (bind up) the testimony which is the written Word, and entrust it to those who are following after the Truth. Those who are following after the lies of the enemy which we call the traditions of men and doctrines of demons are not to be pursued if they will not abandon the lie and embrace the Truth.
Isaiah writes that the Lord is hiding His face from “the house of Jacob” but that He is going to wait upon the Lord, he is going to pursue after the Lord. Even though the Lord may have turned away from a whole group of people, His face will be toward the individual who has a heart for Him. He goes on to say that the Lord will use him and his children, both physical and spiritual, to be a sign and wonder for a whole nation. What about you and me? Will we choose to be a part of the rising remnant and change a nation, change the world? Now, let’s move into verses nineteen and twenty, first in the King James Version.
Isaiah 8:19-20 (KJV)
19 And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? for the living to the dead?
20 To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.
We see a question posed. Of course, we are to seek unto our God not evil spirits, the occult. Familiar spirits are evil spirits who are familiar with you, with your family for perhaps hundreds of years. They know your history and thus the weaknesses of our families. You likely have noticed that certain evil is present in families generally generation to generation like alcoholism for example. That is broken by the Blood of the Lamb and the Words (Scripture) of our testimony. We must exercise our authority over alcohol (for example) in faith, powered of love, absent doubt, and led of the Holy Spirit and be free of that familial (evil) spirit. The Anointing moves on our behalf (in response to our authority, and the Word of God) shattering the yoke of bondage brought by alcohol and lifts that burden of guilt. The verse goes on to say, we do not choose the way of the world, the way of consulting with the enemy but after our Covenant with God. We separate ourselves from those who do not speak according to Scripture because there is no light in them. We choose the light; we choose the Holy Book. Let’s take a look at the Message Bible for further insights.
Isaiah 8:19-20 (MSG)
19 When people tell you, “Try out the fortunetellers. Consult the spiritualists. Why not tap into the spirit-world, get in touch with the dead?”
20 Tell them, “No, we’re going to study the Scriptures.” People who try the other ways get nowhere—a dead end!
It is worse than a dead end it is stealing, killing, and destroying. The King James Version tells us that not only are their ways a dead end but there is no light in them. We know, if there is no light in them, there is no life (eternal). We must be a witness, a light, an example to dead men (and women) but not spend much time in their company for they pose a threat to our thinking. They speak as their father the devil speaks and those words are seeds, we must be very guarded about receiving those words.

2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.

Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
