Greetings dear and precious friends and saints and welcome back to this teaching from 1st John. Teaching from the “little Johns” has been on my mind for some time and now the Lord has pulled the trigger. Please take a moment and share this, and all other teachings, as widely as possible by every means available to you. Thank you so much for sharing. The Lord is so good, to give us His Word, to shine light on His abundant path for our lives. Before I move to our primary Bible text, let me remind you all of two things. The first is to be prayerful about becoming a partner, a regular financial donor to this Ministry, to support our Kingdom mission. The second is if you have not yet acquired my book “Be Love” do so today.

Now let’s turn our full attention to our primary Bible text for today. Are you reading out loud? Yes, out loud, you know why.
1 John 1:5-10 (KJV)
5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
As we pick up our study this Friday let me point out that verses six and eight are connected. The conjunctive “But” between verses six and seven makes them separate statements and not linked, verse six is not to be considered in the evaluation of verse seven. Now, back to finishing our discussion of verse seven. Each of us are to walk in the light we have. Even if we have walked with the Lord for decades we will have (not may have) areas of ignorance some of which will be sin but we don’t yet have light on that yet. So long as we are walking in the light, we do have the blood of Jesus will cleanse us from the sins of ignorance. This is not greasy grace. If we are not pushing forward in the Word of God that is sin in and of itself. Remember part of the definition of darkness is ignorance. Ignorance is not okay with the Lord. Now having said that, let me point out that the most studious among is are enormously ignorant. The key is this, are you, am I, pushing forward into the Word of God?
2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV)
15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Now, let’s look at verse eight in the light of verse six. If there is darkness in our life, it is the consequences of sin, no sin no darkness only light. The fruit of our present life is a clear indication of the amount of darkness that is present or the consequences of darkness we are walking out. Let me point out that walking out the consequences of darkness is temporary, if we are truly walking in love (agapē) the Lord will work everything to the good. When we are in sin but say we are not we have deceived ourselves and are not walking in Truth. How do we know this, by pursuing the Truth with all of our hearts. The Word of God is the only source of Truth. Do we approach the Word of God like the following verse.
Hebrews 4:12 (KJV)
12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next Friday. The Lord is good.

2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 (KJV)
13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
