KINDNESS TO THE WICKED

Greetings dear and precious sons and daughters of the Heavenly Father, brothers and sisters with Christ Jesus, inhabited by and empowered by our Helper the Holy Spirit. Welcome back to this exciting and empowering Bible Study of the Book of Isaiah. Please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you. Thank you for sharing. The featured picture today is of beautiful Donna and me at Billy Gene’s restaurant in Kerrville Texas. Wonderful place to eat. Now let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text from the Book of Isaiah and continue reading out loud. Remember, faith comes by hearing, not seeing or thinking, but hearing. Hearing what? The Word of God. This is not just hearing a sound or a casual gathering of information, but a listening to understand and do. Let’s ask ourselves, are we doing that (listening to understand and do) or are we just curious about what follows?
Isaiah 26:7-11 (TLB)
7 But for good men the path is not uphill and rough! God does not give them a rough and treacherous path, but smooths the road before them.
8 O Lord, we love to do your will! Our hearts’ desire is to glorify your name.
9 All night long I search for you; earnestly I seek for God; for only when you come in judgment on the earth to punish it will people turn away from wickedness and do what is right.
10 Your kindness to the wicked doesn’t make them good; they keep on doing wrong and take no notice of your majesty.
11 They do not listen when you threaten; they will not look to see your upraised fist. Show them how much you love your people. Perhaps then they will be ashamed! Yes, let them be burned up by the fire reserved for your enemies.
We see that as verse nine comes to a close that only when judgment is present in the earth do people see their wickedness and what is righteous. Cat’s out of the bag at that place, but I suspect we have all been there and done that. When we compromise the Word of God even a very little bit (no such thing but for illustration) the devils will use that tiny wedge to bring increasing deception. Soon we are in a deep darkness, deception, in that area and are completely unaware of it. It may be very obvious to others but we remain oblivious. This is when a humble heart willing to submit to correction is so very valuable. Let us all decide right now that we will submit to correction. Meditate the following.
Proverbs 14:16 (KJV)
16 A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil: but the fool rageth, and is confident.
I don’t want to be known as a fool by God or man.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 (KJV)
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
We see here that the key to avoiding error or escaping from error has to do with our study and implementation of Scripture. Now let’s take a look at verse ten of our primary text. We see that God is kind to the wicked but it doesn’t bring repentance. We see this kindness of God to the wicked everywhere, you won’t have to hunt for it. Consider the government, our relatives, or associates. No one will have an excuse, “I didn’t know”, before God.
Romans 1:21-22 (KJV)
21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
I see this all around and in people I know and it breaks my heart for they are careening into Hell. The heathen rage in the face of God’s kindness, His forbearance.
Psalm 2:1-3 (KJV)
1 Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?
2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,
3 Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.
They rage against those who bring the good news and against the Good News Himself, the one who bought eternal life for all here and now and forever after. In their darkness they chose stealing, killing, and destroying in their lives instead of life and that more abundant (John 10:10).
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next week.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Receive the blessing in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (MSG)
24 GOD bless you and keep you,
25 GOD smile on you and gift you,
26 GOD look you full in the face and make you prosper.
