NEITHER WERE THEY OBEDIENT TO HIS LAW

Greetings dear and precious saints of God and welcome back to this wonderful Bible Study of the Book of Isaiah. What a wonderful Book, but of course they all are! God is so good to us, to illuminate our path. This is His good path! We are a rebellious people like our first father the devil. We are born with a fallen and rebellious spirit and a flesh concerned about self. Any of you who had had children know that rebellion is innate in the child. They are way better at learning the word “no” than “yes”. What about you and me? Please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you. Thank you so much for sharing. The featured picture today is of a school building. This is to remind us to pray for our education system. I hope that we all know that the educational system is rotten from bottom to top. Education of our children is primarily the responsibility of the parents and not just in Godly matters. However, with an increasing focus on materialism by one’s own hand came the broken families and families with both mom and dad working outside the home. With this came a decline in all things concerning our society. Meditate the following Scripture as you continue to read out loud.
Ephesians 6:1-4 (KJV)
1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.
2 Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;)
3 That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.
4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
Listen to what the Lord said about Abraham before the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. Do any of us want the Lord to share things with us, things perhaps that we could intercede for like Abraham did for Sodom and Gomorrah?
Genesis 18:17-19 (KJV)
17 And the LORD said, Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do;
18 Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him?
19 For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.
Children are a serious responsibility. Unfortunately, in my generation we were not receiving Scriptural teaching about how to live by Kingdom of God laws and raise a family. We were living by the worlds rules and raising our kids very much like the world. The Kingdom of God way is the Garden of Eden way, living in the seventh day, and not the earth cursed system of toil and sweat. Even the Old Covenant people could have days of Heaven upon the earth, so much more we who follow after Christ. Well, that is a teaching for another time. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text continuing to read out loud.
Isaiah 42:21-25 (KJV)
21 The LORD is well pleased for his righteousness’ sake; he will magnify the law, and make it honourable.
22 But this is a people robbed and spoiled; they are all of them snared in holes, and they are hid in prison houses: they are for a prey, and none delivereth; for a spoil, and none saith, Restore.
23 Who among you will give ear to this? who will hearken and hear for the time to come?
24 Who gave Jacob for a spoil, and Israel to the robbers? did not the LORD, he against whom we have sinned? for they would not walk in his ways, neither were they obedient unto his law.
25 Therefore he hath poured upon him the fury of his anger, and the strength of battle: and it hath set him on fire round about, yet he knew not; and it burned him, yet he laid it not to heart.
The Lord has extended His Hand once again to His people and is lamenting they will not take it, they will not listen in spite of the carnage and chaos in which they live. In spite of repeated warnings through the Prophets, in this case Isaiah they would not listen, they would not repent, they would not return to Jehovah. Are we so different today? Listen to God’s disappointment with His people in the very last phase of this chapter, “yet he laid it not to heart”. The “he” here is Jacob otherwise known as Israel.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow.
