Greetings dear and precious saints purchased by the incalculable Precious Blood of Jesus. Welcome back to our enlightening study of the wonderful Bible Book of Isaiah. Please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you. Thank you for sharing. I am puzzled by those of you who follow these teachings regularly, yet don’t share?? If you’re just skating by and wondering who David Wood is don’t worry about it (don’t worry period). The picture today is provided by Marilyn Stevens who takes wonderful wildlife, especially bird pictures. This particular picture is of a pileated woodpecker. Looks rather prehistoric don’t you think? Also, never forget to pray for Israel, it is a command of our God (Psalm 122:6-9) not a holy suggestion.
Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text in the wonderful Book of Isaiah and continue reading our loud. Yes, out loud, you know why.
Isaiah 52:1-5 (NLT)
1 Wake up, wake up, O Zion! Clothe yourself with strength.
Put on your beautiful clothes, O holy city of Jerusalem, for unclean and godless people will enter your gates no longer.
2 Rise from the dust, O Jerusalem. Sit in a place of honor.
Remove the chains of slavery from your neck, O captive daughter of Zion.
3 For this is what the LORD says: “When I sold you into exile,
I received no payment. Now I can redeem you without having to pay for you.”
4 This is what the Sovereign LORD says: “Long ago my people chose to live in Egypt. Now they are oppressed by Assyria.
5 What is this?” asks the LORD. “Why are my people enslaved again? Those who rule them shout in exultation. My name is blasphemed all day long.
Today we find ourselves at the fourth verse. Again, we find the Lord speaking, this time Gods’ Prophet Isaiah says “the Sovereign LORD”. Then he goes on to remind them, His people, that it was Him that brought them out of the bondage of Egypt. Has He brought you out of Egypt (type of sin, the kingdom of darkness)? Did you notice that God said they chose to live in Egypt. So did we at one time. Look at this verse in the NIV.
Isaiah 52:4 (NIV)
4 For this is what the Sovereign LORD says: “At first my people went down to Egypt to live; lately, Assyria has oppressed them.
One might have assumed it was the will of God for Joseph to bring his father, Jacob/Israel, brothers and families into Egypt. They ended up staying some 400 years. There was a great famine in the Promised Land at the time and Jospeh was second in command in Egypt and invited them to come. Problem, they stayed and over time were taken as slaves. Could they have left after the seven years of famine? Yes. It does not appear it was the will of God, or Gods best that Israel go into Egypt. However, this was prophesied through Abraham that they would go into slavery in Egypt.
Genesis 15:13-16 (KJV)
13 And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years;
14 And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance.
15 And thou shalt go to thy fathers in peace; thou shalt be buried in a good old age.
16 But in the fourth generation they shall come hither again: for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full.
So, how does this work? It was not the will of God for His people to be in bondage, live outside the Promised Land, yet He foretold their servitude to Abram. This has to be explained without destroying freewill. God is outside of time and space in the spirit realm. God has already seen the story start to finish in time. He knows the end from the beginning. This is how His prophetic Words can be so accurate, He has been there, and He has seen it. We live our lives making decisions, He provides light, we chose what to receive, have ups and downs. All the while He does not interfere with our exercise of our will. At any given time in our life, He treats us and interacts with us according to our faith, love, and sensitivity to the Spirit even knowing our triumphs in Him and our failures in demonic deceptions and our own lusts with pride. All the way of our lives He provides all that we need to make choices that will bring an over-the-top life in Him but He does not interfere with our choices, good or bad.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow. Remember, the Lord cannot lie and He is always good. If it’s not good, it’s not Him.

2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 (KJV)
13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
