SPIRIT OF COUNSEL

Greetings my precious brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus and welcome back to this insightful, and faith producing therefore Power producing for the Kingdom, study of the Book of Isaiah. Please take a moment to share these teachings as widely as possible to expand the reach of these teachings, the gospel, the Truth. You are an important part of this Ministry. Thank you for sharing, may the Lord bless you richly. The beautiful picture featured today was also provided by our good friend and faithful man of God, Joe Getchell Jr. Last week we started a study of the eleventh chapter of Isaiah and have been discussing the Seven Spirits of the Lord also mention in the Revelation.
Revelation 1:4 (KJV)
4 John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne;
Who is “him which is, and which was, and which is to come”? This is the Lord Jesus, the Christ. These seven Spirits with which He was Anointed in His earthly Ministry are today attentive to Him (and us in Him) before that Throne which is at the right hand of the Father. We dear ones are seated there with and in Him and they are attentive to us. Why? We are carrying on the mission of the Anointing in the earth. Isaiah 11:2 could be written about us, those of use born again and baptized in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues. Let’s turn to our primary text, today we come to the Spirit of Counsel. Now let’s turn our attention to our primary text and continue reading out loud.
Isaiah 11:1-4 (KJV)
1 And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:
2 And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;
3 And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:
4 But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.
What a wonderful Messianic passage but it also applies to us and the Anointing in which we walk. Following this passage this is another wonderful passage that is generally thought to apply to the Millennial reign of Christ (and us). Today we are focusing in on the Spirit of Counsel. Let’s turn our attention to the first use of this Hebrew word transliterated and translated to English as ‘counsel’.
Deuteronomy 32:28-31 (KJV)
28 For they are a nation void of counsel, neither is there any understanding in them.
29 O that they were wise, that they understood this, that they would consider their latter end!
30 How should one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, except their Rock had sold them, and the LORD had shut them up?
31 For their rock is not as our Rock, even our enemies themselves being judges.
God through the Prophet is telling His people there is a people without (void) of counsel. Not only that they have no understanding or wisdom. The reason is that their rock (god) is not our Rock (God). The nation devoid of counsel are the heathen (unsaved). You and I dear ones are not in that boat unless we do not pursue after the Lord with our whole heart and do His commandments as written. We are to add or subtract anything from His Word. The heathen careen (speed) through life giving little to no thought as to their latter end (what about when this natural life ends?). Now let’s examine the definition of this word counsel. According to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary it has to do with giving advice, devising a plan, exercising prudence (forethought, caution, far-nearsightedness), to deliberate or resolve, consult, (give, take) counsel (-lor), determine, or guide. As I finish for today consider the following.
Psalm 33:11 (KJV)
11 The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.
Proverbs 11:14 (KJV)
14 Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, doubt it not, and speak over yourself and your family in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
