AWAKE, ARISE, AND TRIUMPH

THE HOLY HIGHWAY
Greetings dear and precious saints of the only Living God, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit and welcome back to our Bible Study of the Bible Book of Isaiah. God is so good to give us His Word to show us not only Himself but who we are in His family. Not everyone is in the family of God. There are only two families in the earth. First and by far the best family to be in is that of those who declare and practice God as Lord and Savior. The other family with nothing but horror ahead is those who declare and practice the demonic as their lord and savior (provider, etc.). One may exclaim, “I don’t worship Satan!” Really? Examine where your time is spent, on what is your money spent, are you generous in the house of God and with God’s other children, and with whom do you hang out? Please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible expanding our reach with the good news. The news does not get any better than the Word of God. The featured picture today is representative of the Prophet Isaiah. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Scripture text continuing to read out loud. Don’t be rebellious, just read out loud. Do it intentionally and with purpose. You are listening to build faith, understand, and to do, not just to store away encouraging and interesting information.
Isaiah 35:7-10 (TLB)
7 The parched ground will become a pool, with springs of water in the thirsty land. Where desert jackals lived, there will be reeds and rushes!
8 And a main road will go through that once-deserted land; it will be named “The Holy Highway.” No evil-hearted men may walk upon it. God will walk there with you; even the most stupid cannot miss the way.
9 No lion will lurk along its course, nor will there be any other dangers; only the redeemed will travel there.
10 These, the ransomed of the Lord, will go home along that road to Zion, singing the songs of everlasting joy. For them all sorrow and all sighing will be gone forever; only joy and gladness will be there.
It seems to me that there is great intermixing of past and future events in our passage above. Perhaps Jesus had this in mind when He uttered the following warnings.
Matthew 7:13-16 (KJV)
13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
Verses 13 and 14 above should cause us all to pause and take a sober look at our life, our beliefs, and the fruits of our life. The word “strait” means to be narrow but also means to stand and to continue. Has the devil deceived us into taking the wide gate. After all the wide gate will be way easier and comfortable at the first but the end is destruction. It is easier and more comfortable for it is a somewhat cleaned up alternative to our unsaved life. A few days ago, I published a teaching on Prophecy. I find it interesting that choosing the narrow or wide gate is directly associated with a warning about false Prophets and an admonishment to examine the fruit of the lives of those with whom we associate. Now let’s look at the ultimate spiritual and physical reality of our text.
Revelation 21:1 (KJV)
1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
Revelation 21:6-8 (KJV)
6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
O what a day this will be! I want to finish my course here, be fully satisfied having done all my assignment, and having Heaven on this earth. Then I will fly away, be conveyed in Heavens chariots of fire to this Holy Highway.
