TAKING COMMUNION WITH JESUS

Greetings dear saints and welcome back to the teachings on The Kingdom of God and His righteousness. This was the main theme of Jesus’ Ministry and thus must be a main theme of our Ministry in the earth in His stead. Jesus has won the war with darkness.
Colossians 2:15 (KJV)
15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
Now we are to occupy until Jesus returns for an accounting.
Luke 19:13 (KJV)
13 And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come.
Jesus was either teaching how the Kingdom of God worked or demonstrating how it worked. Now let’s jump into our anchor text and then on to the next teaching from the Master.
Matthew 6:31-33 (NKJV)
31 Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’
32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.
33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
As I have asked many times before, have we received this as a command from our Lord and is it front and center or somewhere in the mix of our lives? We will now move forward into another discussion of what Jesus had to say about the Kingdom. You will quickly recognize this as being a part of what is commonly called the Last Supper and upon which we base communion.
Mark 14:22-26 (NKJV)
22 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them and said, “Take, eat; this is My body.”
23 Then He took the cup, and when He had given thanks He gave it to them, and they all drank from it.
24 And He said to them, “This is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many.
25 Assuredly, I say to you, I will no longer drink of the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God.”
26 And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.
As we are moving forward take a look at verse twenty-two. This is a little bit of a side issue or maybe not. Jesus and His disciples were having the Passover meal, a full meal, not a wafer of bread and a teaspoon of grape juice. You can cross reference this with 1st Corinthians chapter eleven in various translations. So, here is the question, when did we stop doing this? My next point has to do with the “new covenant”.
Listen to the writer of Hebrews.
Hebrews 10:7-13 (KJV)
7 Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.
8 Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law;
9 Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.
10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
11 And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:
12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;
13 From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.
The New Covenant is the exchange of the old commandments with the sacrifice of animals to the final and eternal sacrifice of the Lamb of God. The broken body of Christ and His shed blood provided for our resurrection. Of our spirit man at salvation and our bodies at the Catching Away. The broken body of Christ fully received (Word of God) gives health and healing as necessary when the hedge has been broken. It provides for all that is needed for our natural lives. The shed Blood gives us eternal life when we receive Him as Lord. It dealt with the sin problem preventing the destroyer from entering our house, fully received no stealing, killing, and destroying. Life is in the blood. The Blood removed the Law of Sin and Death. A point to ponder from the phrase “when I drink it new in the kingdom of God” speaking of the fruit of the vine. Could it be that every time we take communion that Jesus takes it with us. Think of the picture of the bridegroom and bride in Jewish Custom.

Lord willing, I will resume right here next Saturday. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
