KEEP BUSY UNTIL I COME

Greetings dear saints of God and others. Welcome to our ongoing Study of “The Kingdom of God”. This was the central theme of Jesus’ Ministry and is to be ours as well. Now let’s get to our anchor Scripture and then jump into more instruction (commands) from the Master.
Matthew 6:33 (ESV)
33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
This is the one hundred and seventh time for us to look at this Scripture and it does not get old but is taking root within us as it should. It is a command which means it is actionable revelation which we are to be about day in and day out. There is no such thing as Kingdom of God and righteousness time and then everything else being separate. All that we do is part of the Kingdom of God assignment or stewardship and it is all to be done His way. Earlier in the same chapter Jesus tells us to pray for the Kingdom of God, and the will of God come into the earth.
Matthew 6:9-10 (ESV)
9 Pray then like this: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.
10 Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
The Kingdom comes first into us, and His will is to be known by us, manifested in us and through us as a testimony of the goodness of our God. As we delve once again into the Master’s Words let’s remember that the Kingdom of God is all about increase whereas the kingdom of darkness is all about decrease. One can be in the Kingdom of God and go to Heaven in the end but suffer decrease because they don’t put the Kingdom first and do things His way.
Luke 19:11-15 (ESV)
11 As they heard these things, he proceeded to tell a parable, because he was near to Jerusalem, and because they supposed that the kingdom of God was to appear immediately.
12 He said therefore, “A nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom and then return.
13 Calling ten of his servants, he gave them ten minas, and said to them, ‘Engage in business until I come.’
14 But his citizens hated him and sent a delegation after him, saying, ‘We do not want this man to reign over us.’
15 When he returned, having received the kingdom, he ordered these servants to whom he had given the money to be called to him, that he might know what they had gained by doing business.
The nobleman is Jesus who is in Heaven and has received the Kingdom of God for Himself. He is coming back and that is a two-stage event. First is the Catching Away of the saints and the raising of the righteous dead. This is when we who are alive at His coming get a physical body like His and the saints who went on before also are reunited with their physical bodies which will then be like His. Next there is the Second Coming when Jesus physically sets down upon the earth and rules for a thousand years.
Next, we see that this nobleman gives His servants instructions and equips them to carry out the instructions. The instruction was to be busy, engage in business until He returns. What about verse fourteen and the citizens hating Him? This is referring to His fellow citizens, the Jews, which have for the most part rejected Jesus as King, as Messiah. Finally, in this parable we see Him returning and first thing is the accounting. What did you do with what I gave you, what did you do with your life?
TAKE HOME:
- Our lives are to be Kingdom of God focused and done according to the will and ways of God.
- We are fully equipped and have our assignments which are for our lifetime.
- Jesus is coming back and there will be an accounting.
Lord willing, I will resume right here tomorrow. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
