THE LORDS JUSTICE

Greetings precious brothers and sisters in the Lord and welcome to 2023 and to The Three Minute Word blog. The next 363 days can be the best days you have ever had or same o same o. What will I choose, what will you chose. Yes, it is up to you and me. The whole of the Kingdom of God is ours for the taking, we are participants in common (joint-heirs) with Christ Jesus and the Father of all things (spiritual and physical). Please take a moment to share this teaching today by every means available to you. Thank you for sharing. The featured picture is winter in Maine which the friends and partners in the north are all to familiar with and a good reminder to our southern friends of why you stay right here (smile). Please continue to read out loud.
Prayer Nugget: One morning the phrase “doeth it not” was turning over in my thoughts. I did a quick Bible search and came up with two references.
James 4:17 (KJV)
17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.
This verse by itself seems clear enough. If we know the God thing (righteous thing) to do and we don’t do it we have sinned. Now let’s add some context.
James 4:13-17 (KJV)
13 Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:
14 Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
15 For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.
16 But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil.
17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.
In context we see a person that is making their own plans by their own reasonings without any thought of consulting the Lord. Do I, do any of you do this without one thought? More tomorrow. Now let’s turn our attention to the wonderful Bible Book of Isaiah.
Isaiah 34:8-12 (KJV)
8 For it is the day of the LORD’S vengeance, and the year of recompences for the controversy of Zion.
9 And the streams thereof shall be turned into pitch, and the dust thereof into brimstone, and the land thereof shall become burning pitch.
10 It shall not be quenched night nor day; the smoke thereof shall go up for ever: from generation to generation it shall lie waste; none shall pass through it for ever and ever.
11 But the cormorant and the bittern shall possess it; the owl also and the raven shall dwell in it: and he shall stretch out upon it the line of confusion, and the stones of emptiness.
12 They shall call the nobles thereof to the kingdom, but none shall be there, and all her princes shall be nothing.
As you will recall Isaiah by the unction of the Holy Spirit has been speaking on behalf of God about near time judgements and then those yet to come. So, what is being prophesied here? The language suggests God is talking about Hell, eternal judgement. I am not the least bit interested in this future, what about you? Over time I am becoming increasingly conscious of the holiness of God and the holiness commanded of us and the awful stench of sin in the nostril of God. We have a tendency to divide sins by degrees when in fact it is all awful and to be avoided. No sin is to be joked about. What about statements contrary to the Word of God coming from our mouths? Yes, that is sin and a great offense to our Lord. The text is discussing the punishment for sin, all sin, this is far more than a slap on the wrist. All sin is a rejection of God, specifically Jesus, who is the Word. All sin is a choice, let’s quit choosing sin, quit slapping the face of our Lord. A friend of mine is about to deliver a sermon based on the following verse. I pray none of us are fools.
Proverbs 14:9 (KJV)
9 Fools make a mock at sin: but among the righteous there is favour.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Receive the blessing in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (MSG)
24 GOD bless you and keep you,
25 GOD smile on you and gift you,
26 GOD look you full in the face and make you prosper.
