THE SMOKE SHALL GO UP FOREVER
Greetings precious brothers and sisters in the Lord and welcome back to The Three Minute Word blog. The next 362 days can be the best days you have ever had or same o same o. What will I choose, what will you chose? Yes, it is up to you and me. The whole of the Kingdom of God is ours for the taking, we are participants in common (joint-heirs) with Christ Jesus and the Father of all things (spiritual and physical). Prayer Nugget: Yesterday we looked at the idea that was rolling around in my head about knowing to do right and not doing it. The first reference we looked at yesterday was from James.
James 4:17 (KJV)
17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.
We discovered this was in the context of just making and doing our own plan with no regard to God. However, this applies to a multitude of situations, some of which one might consider to be of no consequence but God calls sin. What about not putting the shopping cart in the proper place at the store?
Luke 6:49 (KJV)
49 But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.
Obedience is a strong foundation but disobedience makes the foundation rotten and will fall into ruin. Sin opens the door for the thief to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). Now let’s turn our attention to our primary text in the wonderful Bible Book of Isaiah.
Isaiah 34:8-12 (KJV)
8 For it is the day of the LORD’S vengeance, and the year of recompences for the controversy of Zion.
9 And the streams thereof shall be turned into pitch, and the dust thereof into brimstone, and the land thereof shall become burning pitch.
10 It shall not be quenched night nor day; the smoke thereof shall go up for ever: from generation to generation it shall lie waste; none shall pass through it for ever and ever.
11 But the cormorant and the bittern shall possess it; the owl also and the raven shall dwell in it: and he shall stretch out upon it the line of confusion, and the stones of emptiness.
12 They shall call the nobles thereof to the kingdom, but none shall be there, and all her princes shall be nothing.
I don’t know about you but none of this is attractive to me. A fleeting pleasure satisfying the flesh in this life is a sorry exchange for eternal Hell. The people who condemned themselves to Hell by their own choices in the face of the knowledge of a far better choice will call out for the righteous but none will be found. The righteous are not going to Hell and will not be found in Hell.
Luke 16:22-24 (KJV)
22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;
23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
Once in Hell there is no remedy, no relief, no escape, and is forever (has no end). Our text seems to take a turn from eternal judgement to temporal judgements for those who do not follow after God, the Word of God. We will pick up with the following tomorrow.
Isaiah 34:14-17 (TLB)
14 The wild animals of the desert will mingle there with wolves and hyenas. Their howls will fill the night. There the night-monsters will scream at each other, and the demons will come there to rest.
15 There the owl will make her nest and lay her eggs; she will hatch her young and nestle them beneath her wings, and the kites will come, each one with its mate.
16 Search the book of the Lord and see all that he will do; not one detail will he miss; not one kite will be there without a mate, for the Lord has said it, and his Spirit will make it all come true.
17 He has surveyed and subdivided the land and deeded it to those doleful creatures; they shall possess it forever, from generation to generation.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
