AWAKE, ARISE, AND TRIUMPH

THE REMNANT
Greetings dear and precious saints of God. If you are not a saint of God, change that right now and change your current citizenship from the kingdom of darkness to the Kingdom of light and your destination from Hell to Heaven. Welcome back to this wonderful study of the Bible Book of Isaiah. Expect answers, the building of faith, and empowerment. Before I move forward, please take a moment and share these teachings as widely as possible to expand our reach with these Truths. The featured picture today is of His Church of Reconciliation located in Yoakum Texas. Now let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text continuing to read out loud. Yes, out loud, you know why.
Isaiah 10:17-19 (KJV)
17 And the light of Israel shall be for a fire, and his Holy One for a flame: and it shall burn and devour his thorns and his briers in one day;
18 And shall consume the glory of his forest, and of his fruitful field, both soul and body: and they shall be as when a standardbearer fainteth.
19 And the rest of the trees of his forest shall be few, that a child may write them.
Yesterday we looked at how the Lord would punish the Assyrians for their pride bringing them to nothing in one day, as we see in the NLT, one night. Let’s look at this in the New Living Translation, it will make these verses to be way clearer.
Isaiah 10:17-19 (NLT)
17 The LORD, the Light of Israel, will be a fire; the Holy One will be a flame. He will devour the thorns and briers with fire,
burning up the enemy in a single night.
18 The LORD will consume Assyria’s glory like a fire consumes a forest in a fruitful land; it will waste away like sick people in a plague.
19 Of all that glorious forest, only a few trees will survive—
so few that a child could count them!
Just as a reminder let’s look at the following passage in 2 Kings.
2 Kings 19:35-37 (ESV)
35 And that night the angel of the LORD went out and struck down 185,000 in the camp of the Assyrians. And when people arose early in the morning, behold, these were all dead bodies.
36 Then Sennacherib king of Assyria departed and went home and lived at Nineveh.
37 And as he was worshiping in the house of Nisroch his god, Adrammelech and Sharezer, his sons, struck him down with the sword and escaped into the land of Ararat. And Esarhaddon his son reigned in his place.
Now, let’s move forward in our Isaiah text.
Isaiah 10:20-23 (KJV)
20 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the remnant of Israel, and such as are escaped of the house of Jacob, shall no more again stay upon him that smote them; but shall stay upon the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, in truth.
21 The remnant shall return, even the remnant of Jacob, unto the mighty God.
22 For though thy people Israel be as the sand of the sea, yet a remnant of them shall return: the consumption decreed shall overflow with righteousness.
23 For the Lord GOD of hosts shall make a consumption, even determined, in the midst of all the land.
Let’s look at this in the NLT to get a quicker insight.
Isaiah 10:20-23 (NLT)
20 In that day the remnant left in Israel, the survivors in the house of Jacob, will no longer depend on allies who seek to destroy them. But they will faithfully trust the LORD, the Holy One of Israel.
21 A remnant will return; yes, the remnant of Jacob will return to the Mighty God.
22 But though the people of Israel are as numerous as the sand of the seashore, only a remnant of them will return. The LORD has rightly decided to destroy his people.
23 Yes, the Lord, the LORD of Heaven’s Armies, has already decided to destroy the entire land.
This destruction of God’s people with only a remnant surviving was a Truth for that time but it is also prophetic of a time to come in the Great Tribulation. In this time just before the Second Coming of Christ two thirds of the Jews will be killed with only a third remaining who will receive the Messiah. The final Holocaust of the Jews.
Zechariah 13:7-9 (KJV)
7 Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, and against the man that is my fellow, saith the LORD of hosts: smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered: and I will turn mine hand upon the little ones.
8 And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the LORD, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein.
9 And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The LORD is my God.
God has always had a remnant who would worship, obey Him and deliver His people from unrighteousness (sin) to righteousness (obedience to the Word, the ways of God).
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, doubt it not, and speak over yourself and your family in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
