THE ROD OF MINE ANGER

Greetings dear and precious saints of God. If you are not a saint of God, change that right now and change your current citizenship from the kingdom of darkness to the Kingdom of light and your destination from Hell to Heaven. Welcome back to this wonderful study of the Bible Book of Isaiah. Expect answers, the building of faith, and empowerment. Before I move forward, please take a moment and share these teachings as widely as possible to expand our reach with these Truths. The featured picture today is a very old Church here in Texas near Somerset. Now let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text continuing to read out loud. Yes, out loud, you know why.
Isaiah 10:5-8 (KJV)
5 O Assyrian, the rod of mine anger, and the staff in their hand is mine indignation.
6 I will send him against an hypocritical nation, and against the people of my wrath will I give him a charge, to take the spoil, and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets.
7 Howbeit he meaneth not so, neither doth his heart think so; but it is in his heart to destroy and cut off nations not a few.
8 For he saith, Are not my princes altogether kings?
The Lord is telling His people through the Prophet that He is allowing the Assyrian’s to be His rod of anger in His indignation. Not everybody in Israel (Northern and Southern Kingdoms) is serving Jehovah God no more than everyone in America has made Jesus Lord. However, His righteous judgment rendered due to the sin of His people falls upon the just and unjust alike. Unrepented sin always brings judgment and it comes by way of the ‘thief’. Sin gives the devil a place in our lives and he comes only to steal, kill, and destroy, period. Any stealing, killing, and destroying in our lives is NOT God but the thief (Devil). Nothing in the curse brings glory to God. Obedience to God, His Word, brings the Blessing, blessings will then follow showing the glory, the goodness, of God. This is an Old Testament demonstration of sowing (sin) and reaping (destruction) or failing to bind (forbid) the ways of evil and loosing (permitting) the ways of God. This is all very simple but the lusts of the flesh, the pride of the fallen nature, and the deceptions of the demons are all very powerful and must be guarded against at ALL times.
The Assyrian’s are coming against a “hypocritical nation” which are the people of God. Let’s take a look at the definition of this Hebrew word translated to English as ‘hypocritical’. According to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary it means to be soiled (i.e., with sin especially in a moral sense), impious (sinful, wicked, ungodly), to be corrupt, to be defiled, polluted, or profane. In the New Testament the word translated as hypocrite generally is the same as to be an actor. Playing a role. I pray none of us are in that place. These people were claiming to worship Jehovah God but were dancing to the tune of Satan. Let’s look at the next few verses in The
Isaiah 10:7-9 (NLT)
7 But the king of Assyria will not understand that he is my tool;
his mind does not work that way. His plan is simply to destroy,
to cut down nation after nation.
8 He will say, ‘Each of my princes will soon be a king.
9 We destroyed Calno just as we did Carchemish. Hamath fell before us as Arpad did. And we destroyed Samaria just as we did Damascus.
There is no fear in the heart of the Assyrian for there is no holiness in Israel (Northern or Southern Kingdoms). When we walk in holiness unto the Lord the demons will tremble and the heathen people will fear. Even the saved with unrepented sin will be pricked in their conscience.
Deuteronomy 28:9-10 (KJV)
9 The LORD shall establish thee an holy people unto himself, as he hath sworn unto thee, if thou shalt keep the commandments of the LORD thy God, and walk in his ways.
10 And all people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of the LORD; and they shall be afraid of thee.
Let’s go just a little further in Isaiah in the New Living Translation before I close for today.
Isaiah 10:10-12 (NLT)
10 Yes, we have finished off many a kingdom whose gods were greater than those in Jerusalem and Samaria.
11 So we will defeat Jerusalem and her gods, just as we destroyed Samaria with hers.’”
12 After the Lord has used the king of Assyria to accomplish his purposes on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem, he will turn against the king of Assyria and punish him—for he is proud and arrogant.
13 He boasts, “By my own powerful arm I have done this. With my own shrewd wisdom I planned it. I have broken down the defenses of nations and carried off their treasures. I have knocked down their kings like a bull.
The Lord hates pride particularly in His people but in all peoples. Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, doubt it not, and speak over yourself and your family in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
