WHAT’S NOT TO LIKE ABOUT BEING SAFE, HEALED, PRESERVED, AND WHOLE IN EVERY WAY?

Welcome to Awake, Arise, and Triumph Ministries and the continuation of our Bible Study titled “The Salvation Package”. The question is this, what does salvation mean? What does it mean to be saved? It seems to me that a common understanding is that when one is saved, they are going to Heaven not Hell when they die. It seems that the common message conveyed is that when we give our heart to the Lord, we go to Heaven someday, and in the meantime, we are to develop our character to be more like Jesus. Is that all that salvation or being saved means? In fact, everything good, good as defined by God, is in the salvation package. When we choose salvation, the Word of God, Jesus, we instantly change kingdoms, we don’t just have an upgraded natural life or a promise of good things later.
Colossians 1:12-14 (KJV)
12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
Isn’t this just wonderful? Today I will be continuing to look at the definitions of the Greek words used for salvation and to save or be saved. Yesterday we looked at the root word sōzō (Strong’s Number 4982) meaning to be safe, to save, deliver, protect, heal, preserve, save (self), do well, and be made whole according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. Is there any of this you would rather just do without? Let’s look at first use.
Matthew 1:21 (KJV)
21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
Just looking at this verse (angel of the Lord speaking to Joseph) we can see how salvation might seem to be only the forgiveness of sin. Please don’t misinterpret what is being conveyed in these teachings. The forgiveness of sin is fundamental to all else, you might say entry into the foyer of a great house. Like the great house there is much more to salvation than the foyer. Without the forgiveness of sin nothing else will work in the Kingdom of God.
Sōzō gives rise to two other Greek words. The first is sōtēr meaning a deliverer, saviour according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. Mankind certainly needed a Deliverer, a Savior, God wanted His children, His creation back. Next, we find the word sōtēria meaning to rescue or bring to safety, deliver, health, salvation, save, saving according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. Do you see this wonderful salvation package freely given, any who will claim it and receive it. Again, I will ask, is there anything here you would rather go without? The following verse is a first use, it is Zacharias prophesying after the birth of John the Baptist.
Luke 1:67-69 (KJV)
67 And his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Ghost, and prophesied, saying,
68 Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people,
69 And hath raised up an horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David;
One might think Zacharias is speaking of his son John the Baptist but no it is Jesus to whom he is referring. John the Baptist is of the priestly tribe of Levite but the tribe of David and thus Jesus is the tribe of Judah.
TAKE HOME:
- Serving God, submitting to God/Jesus, submitting to the Word of God and none other had the same benefits for the saints of the Old Covenant and the New alike.
- Jesus solved the sin problem providing a legal path for the full restitution of all things. Yes, full restitution is on the way, a new heaven and a new earth in which there is no curse and not devil. This is the Garden of Eden restored minus the Serpent.
- Let’s partake of the whole salvation package, saved from our sins, wholeness in every area, healing spirit, soul, and body, deliverance from bondages of the enemy, and safety in Him/His Word.
Lord willing, I will resume right here next week. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
