THE NAME OF THE LORD
Video link: https://youtu.be/P64taZ19ZWY
Greetings dear and precious saints of God and welcome back to this in-depth study of the wonderful Bible Book of Isaiah. The Lord is so good to give us His Word, a light to our path. We have no excuse for not knowing the ways of God and imitating them. The featured picture today is of a beautiful church building in the State of Minnesota. This is to remind us to pray for the body of Christ. There is a desperate need for the Truth in the body of Christ. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text continuing to read out loud.
Isaiah 59:18-21 (NASB)
18 According to their deeds, so He will repay, Wrath to His adversaries, recompense to His enemies; To the coastlands He will make recompense.
19 So they will fear the name of the LORD from the west And His glory from the rising of the sun, For He will come like a rushing stream Which the wind of the LORD drives.
20 “A Redeemer will come to Zion, And to those who turn from transgression in Jacob,” declares the LORD.
21 “As for Me, this is My covenant with them,” says the LORD: “My Spirit which is upon you, and My words which I have put in your mouth shall not depart from your mouth, nor from the mouth of your offspring, nor from the mouth of your offspring’s offspring,” says the LORD, “from now and forever.”
Today I will pick up with verse nineteen. I think if we look at this verse in a couple of other Bible translations it will be more understandable and familiar.
Isaiah 59:19 (KJV)
19 So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him.
Isaiah 59:19 (AMP)
19 So [as the result of the Messiah’s intervention] they shall [reverently] fear the name of the Lord from the west, and His glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him and put him to flight [for He will come like a rushing stream which the breath of the Lord drives].
Peoples all over the earth will fear the Lord, all over the earth see the goodness of God manifest (glory). The enemy is still loose on the earth and will bring his attacks and at times they will seem overwhelming but to the wind (breath), the Holy Spirit of God he is nothing. Let me ask a question. When the enemy attacks whether it be by temptation or we have brought about a breach in our hedge does the Holy Spirit just come rushing in? You know the answer from observation but more likely from personal experience. Something to think about. Why is one thing a temptation and another not a temptation? It has to do with our predispositions passed down from our ancestors and our own lusts. The enemy knows you and your family (ancestors) far better than you do. He knows your family weaknesses and what thoughts to introduce.
Exodus 34:7 (NASB)
7 who keeps lovingkindness for thousands, who forgives iniquity, transgression and sin; yet He will by no means leave the guilty unpunished, visiting the iniquity of fathers on the children and on the grandchildren to the third and fourth generations.”
The ungodly things of our ancestors are passed down to us as predispositions not the actual sin and the punishment of that sin. Remember this, our predispositions do not need to be our destiny. A few examples would be things like, does cancer or heart disease run in the family, is there alcoholism in the family or anger issues and so on. Our own lusts have their origins in the family tree or from our environments.
James 1:13-16 (KJV)
13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
16 Do not err, my beloved brethren.
We answer it all with the Word of God, the name of Jesus, and the Blood of Jesus. Do not prophesy sickness and disease and other wicked traits into your life, say what the Word says about you.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next week. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
