THE GLORY OF THE LORD

Greetings dear and precious saints of the Most High God, brothers and sisters in Christ, and welcome back to our study of the marvelous Book of Isaiah. The featured picture today is of an old Church building in the State of New Mexico. The purpose for this series of Church building pictures is to remind each one of us to pray for the Church (not the building), the body of Christ. Thank you for your introspection and your intercession. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text continuing to read out loud.

Isaiah 60:1-5 (ESV)

1 Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD has risen upon you.

2 For behold, darkness shall cover the earth, and thick darkness the peoples; but the LORD will arise upon you, and his glory will be seen upon you.

3 And nations shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising.

4 Lift up your eyes all around, and see; they all gather together, they come to you; your sons shall come from afar, and your daughters shall be carried on the hip.

5 Then you shall see and be radiant; your heart shall thrill and exult, because the abundance of the sea shall be turned to you, the wealth of the nations shall come to you.

Today let’s start by reviewing the first verse. The fact that the first words are “Arise, shine” tells us they (His people) have not arisen and are not shining. They are not visible to the world around them and if they are there is no difference. Dear friends we are called to be very different in every arena of our lives. We are to be head and shoulders above the world in finances, in health, and all other areas. Do you have that? Do you see that around you in your Christian community, your Church? This is such a wonderful passage but it is not automatic because we show up at Church, are born again, filled with the Holy Spirit or do wonderful things around the Church or community. It comes through doing the revealed knowledge we have by faith, in love, doubting not, and as led of the Holy Spirit.

2 Peter 1:2-4 (ESV)

2 May grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.

3 His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence,

4 by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.

This word knowledge is not about having information, it is having revelation that is above earthly knowledge, believing it, being fully persuaded of it, and doing it. Did you notice that we have already been granted (given) all of the promises of God. They are ours for the taking. They can only be enjoyed by faith, walking in love, fully persuaded, and led of the Holy Spirit.

2 Corinthians 1:20 (ESV)

20 For all the promises of God find their Yes in him. That is why it is through him that we utter our Amen to God for his glory.

These promises present in our lives, not just sung about or preached about, but goodness of God manifest for all to see, especially for all to see.

Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
