SURELY THEY ARE MY PEOPLE

Greetings and welcome back to this engaging study of the Bible Book of Isaiah. What a wonderful Lord we have to give us His light, His thoughts, and Words. If we are stumbling in the dark it is by our choice. Revelation is not hidden from us, but for us. Revelation is not automatic. We must seek after Him with all of our hearts. Well, 2025 is off and running, what are you changing to make this year better than last? I don’t care and I don’t think the Lord cares how good 2024 was, this year needs to be better. The featured picture is of the State House in Baton Rouge Louisiana. It is pictured to remind us to pray for all in authority including those in our government. Now let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text reading out loud, yes, out loud.
Isaiah 63:7-10 (NKJV)
7 I will mention the lovingkindnesses of the LORD And the praises of the LORD, According to all that the LORD has bestowed on us, And the great goodness toward the house of Israel, Which He has bestowed on them according to His mercies, According to the multitude of His lovingkindnesses.
8 For He said, “Surely they are My people, Children who will not lie.” So He became their Savior.
9 In all their affliction He was afflicted, And the Angel of His Presence saved them; In His love and in His pity He redeemed them; And He bore them and carried them All the days of old.
10 But they rebelled and grieved His Holy Spirit; So He turned Himself against them as an enemy, And He fought against them.
In verse eight it seems the speaker is the Father speaking of the Son, our Lord Jesus, the Christ, the Savior, as He lays claim to those who believed on Jesus of Israel. Remember there is no way to the Father except by the Son.
John 14:6-7 (KJV)
6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.
There is no back door or alternate path of salvation except to believe upon Jesus, confess Him as Lord and Savior, believing the Father raised Him from the dead.
Romans 10:9-10 (NKJV)
9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
As we examine verse nine of our primary text, we are told that and angel from His presence (from before His face) saved them. The Assyrians had conquered all of Israel excepting Jerusalem but that was not to be.
2 Kings 19:32-36 (KJV)
32 Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the king of Assyria, He shall not come into this city, nor shoot an arrow there, nor come before it with shield, nor cast a bank against it.
33 By the way that he came, by the same shall he return, and shall not come into this city, saith the LORD.
34 For I will defend this city, to save it, for mine own sake, and for my servant David’s sake.
35 And it came to pass that night, that the angel of the LORD went out, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians an hundred fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses.
36 So Sennacherib king of Assyria departed, and went and returned, and dwelt at Nineveh.
You may recall that following this that King Sennacherib was killed by two of his sons will worshipping a false god.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
