MINE OWN ARM BROUGHT SALVATION
Video link: https://youtu.be/ekiEq5SCU1o
Greetings and welcome back to this engaging study of the Bible Book of Isaiah. What a wonderful Lord we have to give us His light, His thoughts, and Words. If we are stumbling in the dark it is by our choice. Revelation is not hidden from us, but for us. Revelation is not automatic. We must seek after Him with all of our hearts. Well, 2025 is off and running, what are you changing to make this year better than last? I don’t care and I don’t think the Lord cares how good 2024 was, this year needs to be better. The featured picture is of the State House in Frankfort Kentucky. It is pictured to remind us to pray for all in authority including those in our government. Now let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text reading out loud, yes, out loud.
Isaiah 63:4-7 (NKJV)
4 For the day of vengeance is in My heart, And the year of My redeemed has come.
5 I looked, but there was no one to help, And I wondered That there was no one to uphold; Therefore My own arm brought salvation for Me; And My own fury, it sustained Me.
6 I have trodden down the peoples in My anger, Made them drunk in My fury, And brought down their strength to the earth.”
7 I will mention the lovingkindnesses of the LORD And the praises of the LORD, According to all that the LORD has bestowed on us, And the great goodness toward the house of Israel, Which He has bestowed on them according to His mercies, According to the multitude of His lovingkindnesses.
Notice the phrase “the day of vengeance” in verse four of our text. Does that bring anything to mind? How about Isaiah chapter 61?
Isaiah 61:1-2 (NKJV)
1 “The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me, Because the LORD has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound;
2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, And the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn,
You will recall that when Jesus got up to read in the Synagogue at the beginning of His earthly ministry He stopped with the phrase “To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD”. Why? He did not and the people of the earth, even those who worshipped Jehovah, have the authority to bring vengeance or justice where it did not exist before. The people of God had justice within their group, in the land deeded to them through Covenant with Abraham but not beyond. After the Resurrection however it is another story. One might ask why Christ the returning Messiah went to Edom and destroyed it first before Armageddon. You may recall that Edom refused the Israelites peaceful passage on their way from Egypt to the Promised Land.
Obadiah 1:18 (MSG)
18 That’s when the family of Jacob will catch fire, the family of Joseph become fierce flame, while the family of Esau will be straw. Esau will go up in flames, nothing left of Esau but a pile of ashes.” GOD said it, and it is so.
Israel will possess this land in Millennial Reign of Christ. Then the One returning from Edom goes on to proclaim the goodness of God towards Israel when they worshipped Him and when they didn’t. Read Isaiah 63:7 once again and apply it to your life and rejoice in thanksgiving to our Lord.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
