Greetings precious saints of God and welcome back to this intriguing and enabling study of the Bible Book of Isaiah. We are such a blessed people to have the Words of God, the thoughts of God to guide our way into all the blessing. Who but our God would know what Words would just as applicable now as then? Who but our God could Anoint all of His Words which when coupled with our faith would bring manifestation? The featured picture is of the Governor’s Mansion in Trenton New Jersey to remind us to pray for all in authority. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text, in you guess it, the Book of Isaiah. Please continue to read out loud, yes, out loud.
Isaiah 64:8-12 (NKJV)
8 But now, O LORD, You are our Father; We are the clay, and You our potter; And all we are the work of Your hand.
9 Do not be furious, O LORD, Nor remember iniquity forever; Indeed, please look–we all are Your people!
10 Your holy cities are a wilderness, Zion is a wilderness, Jerusalem a desolation.
11 Our holy and beautiful temple, Where our fathers praised You, Is burned up with fire; And all our pleasant things are laid waste.
12 Will You restrain Yourself because of these things, O LORD? Will You hold Your peace, and afflict us very severely?
Perhaps many of you have heard sermons about us being the clay and God being the Potter. Generally, it is said that He is making us into the person He wants us to be. This is not like a potter with physical clay shaping a bowl or other utensil where the clay has no say. The Lord, the Potter, has a plan, a wonderful plan for every person’s life but we chose to submit to that plan or not. God gave people freewill right from the get go. God does not make anyone do anything although He could, and the devils and other people cannot. We alone chose the plan of God or our own, generally guided by deceptive forces (demons) either directly or indirectly through those around us. If we will allow Him, submit to Him then “we are the work of Your hand”. I don’t know about you but I want to be the work of His Hand and not mine. Been there, done that. I know how to make messes; He knows how to fashion a masterpiece for His use.
2 Timothy 2:19-21 (KJV)
19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.
21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.
Can you see our Isaiah text in this text written by the Apostle Paul? Whose responsibility is it to depart from iniquity? Looking at verse twenty which one of these vessels do you want to be? I for one want to be a vessel to honor. Let us determine to purge ourselves of all iniquity (read the whole chapter). We purge ourselves by confessing the sin/iniquity, and pleading the Blood of Jesus to cleanse us of all sin, all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next week. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
