BE NOT FURIOUS
Video link: https://youtu.be/cDcQYsAoLfc
Greetings precious saints of God and welcome back to this intriguing and enabling study of the Bible Book of Isaiah. We are such a blessed people to have the Words of God, the thoughts of God to guide our way into all the blessing. Who but our God would know what Words would just as applicable now as then? Who but our God could Anoint all of His Words which when coupled with our faith would bring manifestation? The featured picture is of the State House in Santa Fe New Mexico to remind us to pray for all in authority. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text, in you guess it, the Book of Isaiah. Please continue to read out loud, yes, out loud.
Isaiah 64:8-12 (NKJV)
8 But now, O LORD, You are our Father; We are the clay, and You our potter; And all we are the work of Your hand.
9 Do not be furious, O LORD, Nor remember iniquity forever; Indeed, please look–we all are Your people!
10 Your holy cities are a wilderness, Zion is a wilderness, Jerusalem a desolation.
11 Our holy and beautiful temple, Where our fathers praised You, Is burned up with fire; And all our pleasant things are laid waste.
12 Will You restrain Yourself because of these things, O LORD? Will You hold Your peace, and afflict us very severely?
The Prophet Isaiah continues to plead with the Lord asking Him to not be furious and not to remember their iniquity forever. Please look at us, we are your people. Although Isaiah is saying this, they are not putting Jehovah first and have run after other gods. What about you and me? They are going through the motions but all the while running after other gods. What about us? Another god is anything person, any activity, or anything we put before God or allow to come between us and God. Many times, this is family. Many have nearly deified their children and/or grandchildren and the Church often falls right in line to sanction that idea, behavior.
In verse ten Isaiah goes on to lament that the holy cities, the holy places are a wilderness, Jerusalem is a desolation. Look at what sin does. It did it then and it is doing it right now in the lives of countless Christians not to mention the world. The Temple in Jerusalem is in ruins burned up. At the time Isaiah is lamenting all this, the restoration of the Temple and people returning from captivity to Jerusalem is still a couple of hundred years away. The wages of sin are awful.
Romans 6:20-23 (NKJV)
20 For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness.
21 What fruit did you have then in the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death.
22 But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life.
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Let us flee all sin/iniquity. Listen to Jesus.
John 10:10 (NKJV)
10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
Sin opens the door to the thief. Unbelief is sin.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
