Greetings dear and precious saints of the only Living God and welcome back to this enlightening and empowering study of the Bible Book of Isaiah. How blessed we are to have the very thoughts of God and to know the laws of His Kingdom. I was going to use the word boundaries but I didn’t want any misunderstanding so I used laws instead. The Kingdom of God, of course, in terms or size is boundless, unlike the boundaries of a town, state, or nation. What it does have as a Kingdom are laws which keep us safe and in the will of God. The featured picture today is of the Ohio Governors’ Mansion in Columbus Ohio. Its purpose is to remind us to pray for all that are in authority especially those in the various levels of government. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text continuing to read out loud.
Isaiah 65:7-11 (NKJV)
7 Your iniquities and the iniquities of your fathers together,” Says the LORD, “Who have burned incense on the mountains And blasphemed Me on the hills; Therefore I will measure their former work into their bosom.”
8 Thus says the LORD: “As the new wine is found in the cluster, And one says, ‘Do not destroy it, For a blessing is in it,’ So will I do for My servants’ sake, That I may not destroy them all.
9 I will bring forth descendants from Jacob, And from Judah an heir of My mountains; My elect shall inherit it, And My servants shall dwell there.
10 Sharon shall be a fold of flocks, And the Valley of Achor a place for herds to lie down, For My people who have sought Me.
11 “But you are those who forsake the LORD, Who forget My holy mountain, Who prepare a table for Gad, And who furnish a drink offering for Meni.
As we examine verse seven it can seem on the surface that God is talking revenge or retribution but it is justice. God weighs the sin, and the heart, and sees that the consequences are the same for all, justice without favoritism. Justice according to Truth.
Psalm 89:14 (KJV)
14 Justice and judgment are the habitation of thy throne: mercy and truth shall go before thy face.
Even the mercy of God is not on some sort of sliding scale depending upon His mood an given day, it is always the same for any given set of circumstances. Before moving on let’s look at our text in the Message Bible.
Isaiah 65:7 (MSG)
7 They have coming for their sins. And for the sins of their parents lumped in, a bonus.” GOD says so. “Because they’ve practiced their blasphemous worship, mocking me at their hillside shrines, I’ll let loose the consequences and pay them in full for their actions.”
As we look at verse eight it seems that once again the Lord is tempted to wipe out the Jewish peoples, all of them. He gives the example of fresh wine is found in a cluster of grapes so is a blessing to be found in His people. Of course, we know that blessing to be the Christ Jesus.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
