WHAT IS THE PRICE OF GAINING THE KINGDOM OF GOD?

Welcome to Awake, Arise, and Triumph Ministries and our ongoing study of the Kingdom of God and repentance. We have found that this was the predominate message that Jesus preached and taught. Jesus thought it was important then and had it recorded then might we treat it as important as well. Of course, the whole Bible one way or another is instruction for Kingdom of God living. Let us now go to our anchor or golden Scripture the Lord led us to use for this series of teachings.
Matthew 6:33 (KJV)
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
As we look at this verse, I want to remind us once again that it is a command from the lips of the Savior to them and us, it is a timeless command. You may have heard me say that there are no physical manifestations that do not have a spiritual root or source. This includes the health of your body, your checkbook, even the existence of the universes. Look at our anchor verse closely and you will see the principle that all natural manifestations have a spiritual root. The “a” part of the verse is the spiritual aspect, and the “b” part of the verse is the physical manifestation. This is true for saint and sinner alike, in the positive or righteous direction and the negative or unrighteous direction. Spiritual Law is not just for the children of God.
Now, let us move to the next teaching, insight, Jesus gave His disciples then and His disciples now.
Matthew 13:44 (KJV)
44 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.
The take home here is that there is nothing, absolutely nothing in this natural life that even comes close in value to the Kingdom of God. Just as this man realized that and gave his all to obtain the treasure, the Kingdom of Heaven/God, so must we. Total commitment! Have we forgotten the anchor Scripture for this study? Before concluding for today, let’s examine and meditate the following passage.
Matthew 16:24-27 (KJV)
24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.
Is there really any difference between this passage and our anchor Scripture (Matthew 6:33)? If you minimize your Heavenly assignment(s) to focus on the natural life you will come up short in this life and in the one to come. Did you notice the “b” portion of the 27th verse, “and then he shall reward every man according to his works”. Notice in the following, hopefully familiar Scripture, the difference between putting earthly gain first and putting Heavenly gain first.
Proverbs 10:22 (KJV)
22 The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.
TAKE HOME:
- The Lord has given us the power to be rich in this life, yes, money, by the Blessing and it brings no sorrow with it.
- There is reward, great reward, in making our assignments in the Kingdom of God first place.
- The Kingdom of God is a great treasure far exceeding anything this life has to offer.
