NEW HEAVENS AND A NEW EARTH

Greetings dear and precious saints of the only Living God and welcome back to this enlightening and empowering study of the Bible Book of Isaiah. How blessed we are to have the very thoughts of God and to know the laws of His Kingdom. I was going to use the word boundaries but I didn’t want any misunderstanding so I used laws instead. The Kingdom of God, of course, in terms or size is boundless, unlike the boundaries of a town, state, or nation. What it does have as a Kingdom are laws which keep us safe and in the will of God. The featured picture today is of the State House in Nashville Tennessee. Its purpose is to remind us to pray for all that are in authority especially those in the various levels of government. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text continuing to read out loud.
Isaiah 65:16-19 (NKJV)
16 So that he who blesses himself in the earth Shall bless himself in the God of truth; And he who swears in the earth Shall swear by the God of truth; Because the former troubles are forgotten, And because they are hidden from My eyes.
17 “For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth; And the former shall not be remembered or come to mind.
18 But be glad and rejoice forever in what I create; For behold, I create Jerusalem as a rejoicing, And her people a joy.
19 I will rejoice in Jerusalem, And joy in My people; The voice of weeping shall no longer be heard in her, Nor the voice of crying.
Today I will be moving forward into the 17th verse of our primary Bible text and the Lord has jumped way ahead in time. Let me point out at the juncture that for God time does not exist. He is in the spirit realm, the 4th dimension. The material creation is in the third dimension which is within and controlled by the fourth dimension. Although these time spans seem immense to us, for they far exceed our lifespans they are nothing to the Lord. Remember the words of the Apostle Peter by the Holy Spirit.
2 Peter 3:8 (KJV)
8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
For the Lord two thousand years is but two days to Him, to us. As we view verse seventeen of our primary text remember that the prior verses have viewed the whole history of Israel to the Second Coming and perhaps through the Millennial age to the coming of the new heaven and the new earth.
Revelation 21:1-4 (NKJV)
1 Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea.
2 Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
3 And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God.
4 And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”
Did you notice that “heavens” is pleural in our text and “heaven” is singular in the Revelation text above? What’s the deal? This is how I see it. The Revelation text is John recording what he saw at that moment. The Isaiah text suggests that there will once again be more than one heaven, even as it is now.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next week. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
