NO WEAPON FORMED AGAINST US CAN PROSPER

Greetings dear friends and saints of God. Welcome back to this encouraging and illuminating study of the Bible Book of Isaiah. Those of you who follow this blog regularly know we have been mining treasure from this Book for over three years. The Lord is so good. If you value these teachings, please take a moment and share them as widely as possible by every means available to you. Thank you for sharing. The beautiful picture of Donna and me was taken outside a local eatery here in San Antonio, Texas.
Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text in the wonderful Book of Isaiah. Please continue to read out loud.
Isaiah 54:13-17 (ESV)
13 All your children shall be taught by the LORD, and great shall be the peace of your children.
14 In righteousness you shall be established; you shall be far from oppression, for you shall not fear; and from terror, for it shall not come near you.
15 If anyone stirs up strife, it is not from me; whoever stirs up strife with you shall fall because of you.
16 Behold, I have created the smith who blows the fire of coals and produces a weapon for its purpose. I have also created the ravager to destroy;
17 no weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed, and you shall refute every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD and their vindication from me, declares the LORD.”
As we move forward into verse seventeen, an oft quoted verse, let me reiterate that God did not create the destroyer. The destroyer was created a beautiful, probably an Archangel, angel that chose to sin. Go back and read Ezekiel 28:13-15 from yesterday. At that moment he, Lucifer, became the antithesis (exact opposite) of his creation. Verse seventeen goes on to tell us that no weapon he forms against us can prosper. Let’s take a look at those weapons. The fifteenth verse uses the word strife and I think most of us have an idea what that is, principally a conflict between two or the absence of harmony. According to the online Thesaurus it includes trouble, conflict, discord, contention, fighting, dissention, friction, and rivalry. We are well able, well equipped to stop each of these in their tracks if we so choose.
2 Corinthians 10:3-5 (KJV)
3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:
4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
The Antonym of strife is harmony. Strife is a sign of carnality.
1 Corinthians 3:2-3 (KJV)
2 I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.
3 For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?
What is the end of the carnal mind, mindset, focus?
Romans 8:6 (KJV)
6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
Dear ones we have much in common with our brothers and sisters in other denominations, let us stay on common ground and each share as they can. Notice that strife is right in the middle of the works of the flesh, the carnal mind leading to a carnal life. As you read through this list remember the Apostle Paul is writing to the Church not to the folks at the local bar or brothel.
Galatians 5:19-21 (KJV)
19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
Back to verse seventeen. When a tongue of the heathen or among the saints rises against us in falsehood, we cast it down, deflect, or quench it so it has no effect. As I close this reminds me of the following verse.
Ephesians 6:16 (KJV)
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next week. Remember God loves you; we love you, and there is nothing you can go about it.

2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 (KJV)
13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
