Greetings precious and elect saints of God and welcome back to our ongoing study of the Blood. Now, let’s move forward.
ABRAM/ABRAHAM – PART FIVE
It is my prayer that you are absorbing this, which will only happen as you apply yourself to receive, understand and make part of your thinking and doing. This section of Scripture, the life of Abram/Abraham is pivotal to our Redemption. This is why Abraham is referred to as the Father of us all. Now, we will move to the seventeenth chapter of Genesis where Abram is ninety-nine. After his tryst Hagar Abram did not hear from God for thirteen years. If you are in a dry spell, you might see repentance as the way out. The terrible results of this union, and act of the flesh, produced Ismael, and subsequently the nation of Islam, we are experiencing the terrible fruit to this very day. This act of the flesh, allowing Sarai his wife usurp his God given authority, has produced terrible results. Everything the devil is involved in has the same terrible result sooner or later. God again speaks to the man He has just cut Covenant with thirteen years later. Abram with Sarai clearly left the will of God, the plan of God, pursuing their own solution, now, God is going to see if He can get Abram back on track. God is not going to force Abram; Abram is a freewill moral agent.
Genesis 17:4-6 (KJV)
4 As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations.
5 Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee.
6 And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee. [2]
Notice what God says in these verses. In verse four, He says, “Thou shalt be a father of many nations.” This puts the fathering into the future; however, in verse five, He says, “For a father of many nations have I made thee.” This puts the fathering into the past. As far as God is concerned, it is already done. Abram is renamed; and within the year, Isaac is born. By being renamed Abraham prophesied Isaac into existence by his own mouth. He spoke and the word became flesh, both Isaac and later Jesus. His words of faith made the difference. Every time he introduced himself, he said, “I am the father of a multitude – and there was only him and Sarah. You want the promises of God in your life? Prophesy them by faith, in love (right motives), led of the Holy Spirit into this material realm. The Apostle Paul writes about this.
Romans 4:17 (KJV)
17 (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were. [2]
The Divine pattern of God which is to be ours is calling things that are not as though they already were. It is not that these things do not already exist in the spirit realm or fourth dimension. We are spirit and flesh, and we call things with our authority out of the spirit realm into this material of physical realm, the third dimension. Think about it, we are already doing this. Just all too often we are calling the negative things we don’t really want into existence instead of the Promises of God. Why do we spend all day talking about our financial shortfalls and health issues instead of the Promises of God? Where you direct your thoughts and words is the direction of your life.
Back to Abraham. The Scripture tells us; God calls the end from the beginning (Isaiah 46:10). This is exactly what He expects of us. We are to follow His pattern. His words do not return void (Isaiah 55:11), when spoken in our mouth by faith, doubting not (Mark 11:23-24), in love, led of the Spirit (Job 22:28).
The same day that God changed his name and told him to be circumcised, he did it. He did not have to pray about it to see if it was God’s will, he did it. Immediate obedience is a trademark of Blood Covenant people; or should I say, people walking and acting upon their Covenant. So, now God has shed surrogate blood, and Abraham has shed his own blood in circumcision. The blood covenant between them is complete.
Genesis 17:24 (KJV)
24 And Abraham was ninety years old and nine, when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin. [2]
This is a good time for you to review the elements of blood covenant presented at the beginning of chapter six in my book, Awake, Arise, and Triumph, Book II, God’s Road to Redemption or my book Awake, Arise, and Triumph – Be Love. You will find the requirements of Blood Covenant in play as the final step is acted out between Abraham and Isaac and God. This final act, testing of the Blood Covenant not only allowed God to bring Jesus into the earth, but required Him to bring Jesus into the earth. This was not something that Jesus dreaded. He endured the cross for the joy set before him (Hebrew 12:2), which was the bringing of many sons to glory (Hebrews 2:10). The circumcision was of the flesh, an outward sign like the wedding ring in a marriage. This circumcision was looking forward to the sacrifice of Jesus when He would bare our sin in His flesh that we could live to righteousness.
1 Peter 2:24 (KJV)
24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
Theirs was of the flesh, for there was no access to the spirit by the blood of animals; but our circumcision is of the spirit. By the blood of Jesus, all the dross is removed (Isaiah 1:25); we are quickened and made alive in the spirit, and we are restored to right standing with the Father. The veil of separation is taken out of the way; and we, as Adam did, walk right into the Holy of Holies as sons of Elyôn (Hebrews 4:16).
TAKE HOME:
- Immediately after cutting the Covenant with God Abram and Sarai go off track to bring the promised seed by way of the flesh. Have any of us ever done this?
- Thirteen years go by before God speaks again. God changes Abram’s name to Abraham changing his identity and the promised child is born in the same year. When we recognize our identity change in Christ Jesus the promises will flow in our lives as well.
- On the same day Abraham and all in his house were circumcised foreshadowing the coming of Christ, His sacrifice that we could be dead to sin and live to righteousness.
Lord willing, I will resume right here Thursday, tomorrow is a special teaching on the DAY OF ATONEMENT. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
