THROUGH THE WATER – THROUGH THE FIRE

Greetings dear and precious saints of God and welcome back to this wonderful Bible Study of the Book of Isaiah. What a wonderful Book, but of course they all are! God is so good to us, to illuminate our path. This is His good path! He does not have another path, the only path our God has is good. Why do we all too often choose the path of chaos and destruction? We are a rebellious people like our first father the devil. We are born with a fallen and rebellious spirit and a flesh concerned about self. Any of you who had had children know that rebellion is innate in the child. They are way better at learning the word “no” than “yes”. What about you and me? Please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you. Thank you so much for sharing. The featured picture today is of my beautiful wife Donna and me at The Guenther House here in San Antonio. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text continuing to read out loud.
Isaiah 43:1-4 (KJV)
1 But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.
2 When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.
3 For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee.
4 Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have loved thee: therefore will I give men for thee, and people for thy life.
Wow, what a wonderful Book, what a wonderful God, and He is our God forever! We have been talking about verse one for the last few days and will continue just a little more today. We will consider the phrase “I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine”. Well dear ones, we also are getting a new name in the near future.
Revelation 2:17 (AMP)
17 He who is able to hear, let him listen to and heed what the Spirit says to the assemblies (churches). To him who overcomes (conquers), I will give to eat of the manna that is hidden, and I will give him a white stone with a new name engraved on the stone, which no one knows or understands except he who receives it.
Then we are told that we are His and indeed we are purchased at Calvary and all that followed to the Day of Pentecost.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (KJV)
19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.
Then by the unction of the Holy Spirit the Apostle Paul repeats the reality that we are bought with a price, therefore we are not our own.
1 Corinthians 7:23 (KJV)
23 Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men.
Because of these things in verse one we have the benefits of verse two.
Isaiah 43:2 (KJV)
2 When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.
This has always been true for men (mankind) who would submit to God and do His Words. This is not automatic and doesn’t just drop on us because we say the “sinners prayer”. We have to be walking, abiding, with Him for this protection.
Psalm 91:1-3 (KJV)
1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
It goes on from here through 16 verses telling us of Gods’ wonderful protection. However, the key is right in verses one and two. We must dwell, abide, with Him, be in close fellowship and we must say He is our refuge and fortress, the One we trust. Sounds a lot like how we got saved don’t you think. We had to declare Jesus as Lord and believe in our heart that God raised Him from the dead. When our thoughts, words, and actions are not His we are not with Him and cannot expect His protections.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next week. Remember, we love you and there is nothing you can do about it.

2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Receive the blessing in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (MSG)
24 GOD bless you and keep you,
25 GOD smile on you and gift you,
26 GOD look you full in the face and make you prosper.
