FEAR NOT I HAVE REDEEMED YOU

Greetings dear and precious saints of God and welcome back to this wonderful Bible Study of the Book of Isaiah. What a wonderful Book, but of course they all are! God is so good to us, to illuminate our path. This is His good path! He does not have another path, the only path our God has is good. Why do we all too often choose the path of chaos and destruction? We are a rebellious people like our first father the devil. We are born with a fallen and rebellious spirit and a flesh concerned about self. Any of you who had had children know that rebellion is innate in the child. They are way better at learning the word “no” than “yes”. What about you and me? Please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you. Thank you so much for sharing. The featured picture today is of a beautiful blue bird and was provided by Marilyn Stevens. Marilyn takes wonderful wildlife pictures especially of our feathered friends. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text continuing to read out loud.
Isaiah 43:1-4 (KJV)
1 But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.
2 When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.
3 For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee.
4 Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have loved thee: therefore will I give men for thee, and people for thy life.
Yesterday we dealt briefly with verse one of our text. Today I will deal a little more with that verse before moving forward. The thing that jumps out is God making sure they know how they came about, from whom they sprang. That applies to all things including Israel (Jacob) and the Church. Later in the verse He points out that He is even the one that named them not they themselves. We, people, tend to exhibit the traits of Lucifer thinking we are our own gods and we are not. All too often we start to think, believe, we are self-existent, and we are just marvelous doing fine without God. We are dependent upon God for our next breath of air. Remember the following verse.
Hebrews 1:3 (KJV)
3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; (Bold added)
Constant energy input is required to sustain all things spiritual and physical. The power, the energy, comes from the Words spoken by God, in this verse specifically the Holy Spirit. Natural scientists know this and it is perhaps the strongest natural argument against evolution.
Right in the middle of all this we find the command “fear not” and the affirmative statement “I have redeemed thee”. We find the command, which we are well able to do, to fear not often in the Word of God. I have heard it said that it occurs 365 times in Scripture however I can only confirm the phrase “fear not” 63 times in the KJV of the Bible. None the less it is a vital commandment because fear brings torment and in addition it stops love (agapē) and faith. Without faith we cannot please God and we will accomplish nothing for the Kingdom of God. Fear is having more faith in the threat than in God, the Word of God. In essence the threat becomes bigger, more powerful, than God.
Next we come to the phrase “I have redeemed thee”. It sounds like the redemption is past tense, already accomplished, but the actual tense of the words is present tense with no sense of past or future. In other words, it was the same 100 years ago and will be the same in 100 years. This word redeemed has to do with being a next of kin. You may have heard of a kinsman redeemer. The type and shadow of that is of Ruth and Boaz in the Bible Book of Ruth. Under the Old Covenant they were redeemed year by year by the blood of innocent animals. Now we, all of mankind including the Jew, are redeemed by the eternal Blood of Christ. The following verse speaks of Jesus, hallelujah.
Revelation 5:9 (KJV)
9 And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow.

26 GOD look you full in the face and make you prosper.
